Wyndham Clark goes wire-to-wire at the BMW while Patrick Cantlay double-bogeys his way out of a share of the lead, Scottie Scheffler grinds through the week with hand, foot and mouth, and golf officially needs an injury report. Scott and Joe open on the Good Good ad that fifteen people green-lit before somebody scrubbed it, then break down why East Lake should set up a lot like Southwind and Bellerive. Then the guys build a Tour Championship card, including the obligatory Sam Burns ticket. Follow us @kitun and @venmojoe, and @nostrokespod.
Venmo Joe (00:00)
Mm-hmm.
Scott Kitun (00:02)
All right. Welcome to No Strokes Podcast, Joe. Welcome back.
Venmo Joe (00:06)
What's up, Scotty? Hard to believe, man. We're here. Tour championship last week, the twenty twenty six season.
Scott Kitun (00:12)
The last week for mere
Scott Kitun (00:13)
mortals. Only the regular golf show guy thinks that this is the last week. Not for us. We've got Presidents
Venmo Joe (00:19)
yeah.
Scott Kitun (00:20)
Cup coming up, we've got TGL offseason, we got s you know tournaments that no one's fucking heard of.
Venmo Joe (00:25)
Gam gambling,
Venmo Joe (00:26)
gambling manifesto. I was actually thinking of you today because I was
Scott Kitun (00:28)
Yeah, we're just getting started.
Venmo Joe (00:30)
I was like, what is the because I know they do take a break. It's actually not that long of a break. Like they go so tour championship this weekend, but then there is a tournament in Asheville, North Carolina, September 17th. So it's like a couple weeks off, and then you know, we're we're back to gambling our faces off on the PGA tour. I love it.
Scott Kitun (00:52)
I mean, I I feel like as this show continues to find its legs, the season really is a warm-up for us to start the real show. The real show starts after the FedEx Cup. And we then all this shit is just to get everyone kind of their their palates wet and ready. I'm here for the the offseason. I'm here for the real shit. The the the desperate times, storylines, gambling manifestos, fucking gossip.
Scott Kitun (01:18)
I I wanna do a segment on when TGL goes live, just all of our our comrades in the golf creator golf podcast world talking shit about it and be like blah blah blah, it sucks having never watched a single episode of it. I can't wait for that. That's what I'm in for.
Venmo Joe (01:32)
that's gonna be fun. We're we're gonna do a deep dive on the internet invitational 'cause that's gonna drop
Scott Kitun (01:38)
We are.
Venmo Joe (01:39)
in the fall. I think they just filmed it last week, so that'll probably drop sometime in October. yeah, we we can we can talk today about whoever good goods PR people are, 'cause good God, what would what like
Scott Kitun (01:53)
please. I left that off of our off of our ch our top chart.
Scott Kitun (01:58)
I have so many thoughts about the good good. And I, by the way, full disclosure, I know the guys
Venmo Joe (02:00)
Yeah, we we we we definitely need to get to that.
Scott Kitun (02:03)
who run good good. Like Ben Grubbs runs the company that owns it's called Creator Capital, that owns the majority of Good Good. Great dude, great team. All those guys are really, really smart, like
Venmo Joe (02:13)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (02:14)
long time industry vets.
Scott Kitun (02:16)
I have no fucking clue what they were thinking. We're not even gonna let's just get to this first because it has nothing to do with anything else on the show. So let's out of the way. If you haven't
Venmo Joe (02:21)
Yeah. Agreed, agreed.
Scott Kitun (02:24)
watched the commercial that was on I saw my I found it on X, but wherever you found it, where it found me. It found me. So this this like the
Venmo Joe (02:29)
I found it quick, but they've tried to scrub it. It's still you could still find it. Yeah. Yeah. Me too. Me too.
Scott Kitun (02:36)
the the TLDR is this chick is like pulling a club out of his bag and he sacks her to the ground and he's standing over top
Venmo Joe (02:41)
Well it's it is
Scott Kitun (02:42)
of her.
Venmo Joe (02:44)
it's it is a good good girl, right? It's a Lexus. It's it's
Scott Kitun (02:47)
Yeah yes.
Venmo Joe (02:49)
it what's shocking about it is like to your point, smart guys, it's a collaboration with Callaway where they're trying to do an advertisement for their new their
Scott Kitun (02:57)
We're gonna get to that, yeah.
Venmo Joe (02:58)
new driver. Fifteen people had to view this ad and like green light it. Like
Scott Kitun (03:05)
At least
Venmo Joe (03:06)
Garrett Garrett Garrett Clark, the start of the commercial is Garrett Clark.
Venmo Joe (03:10)
Alexis is is grabbing the new driver out of Garrett's bag and he does a full sprint and tackles her. Like that's that's the ad.
Scott Kitun (03:17)
Yeah. It's it's
Scott Kitun (03:19)
what what the layman call domestic violence. That's what's called. it it's
Scott Kitun (03:26)
As a connoisseur of like content and commercials and and all these things, create creative advertising, I usually can find like where the nugget of thought was. We're like, you know, they're like trying to replay the Justin Timberlake thing, or they're trying to replay the Janet, you know, like the you can get the pop culture. I kind of see it. This one, and again, unless I saw a shortened version, it at no point.
Scott Kitun (03:53)
Is there time for you to figure out what the callback is or what the purpose? Like it literally just starts with like a what? wait, what? What the fuck?
Venmo Joe (04:05)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (04:05)
And then she's on the ground, and then he looks at her, and like, I'm not gonna lie, Joe, the only time I've ever seen that camera angle is on Pornhub. I've never seen any camera angle
Venmo Joe (04:13)
Ha ha ha.
Scott Kitun (04:16)
where you get the split between the dude's leg and the club, and she's looking up like it was just fucking. I was like, my god.
Venmo Joe (04:23)
Ga it
Venmo Joe (04:23)
got dirty. It got it got violent and then it got dirty.
Scott Kitun (04:25)
It was just a little,
Scott Kitun (04:27)
it was fucked up. And the thing is, if you consume their content and you follow them individually, like it's like Corinthians 9, 16, like they're fucking good, good. The names in it's in the fucking name. It is the they're the antithesis of that commercial shoot. And I know for a fact, just knowing the the the guys and the thing, there was no ill intent. Like that was the last thing on their fucking radar, which is my point, Joe, and this is why I think I'm here.
Scott Kitun (04:54)
Every good team needs at least one sick fucking degenerate to be like, other people are like me are not gonna see this. You need one.
Venmo Joe (05:01)
Yeah. Well I I I I think
Venmo Joe (05:04)
I think especially in twenty twenty six, right? Where it's I mean, cancel culture is at an all time high. And if you do anything that Yeah, but it's still but it's still people looking to just like,
Scott Kitun (05:11)
Well, it's not twenty twenty one cancel culture yet. You can get it like we got Yeah.
Venmo Joe (05:18)
you know, rake people over the coals for making a stupid decision, right? So like especially in the atmosphere that we live in now, it it is crazy that there was not someone on their team that was like
Venmo Joe (05:29)
Hey, I know what you guys were going for, and I know that's not the intent, but like, hey, maybe Garrett should tackle fucking Steve instead of Alexis. Like, cause the a cuz yeah, cuz the cause the
Scott Kitun (05:38)
And then she walks up and takes the club. This is solved right there.
Venmo Joe (05:42)
ad the ad sucks anyway, right? Like, so why like why go through the trouble of you know putting yourselves in hot water where dude they're calling? I I saw it where they're calling for the timing's terrible for good good, right? Because you've got
Scott Kitun (05:56)
Yeah, second.
Venmo Joe (05:57)
They're they're going on the big break. I think it's their care, like their their crew is just good, good big break
Scott Kitun (06:00)
Just starting. J it's fucking just gets kicked off.
Venmo Joe (06:03)
starts starts tomorrow. And then you've got the good good champ, like speaking of you and I gambling in the fall, the PGA tour has the good good championship in November. So it's like, dude, you guys got all this great stuff going. Like, why even take the risk for like just a weird ass?
Scott Kitun (06:19)
And 40
Scott Kitun (06:20)
million in revenue, Joe. Last
Venmo Joe (06:21)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (06:22)
year, 40 million in like, so here's real quick, and then we'll we'll flip off this for those who are tired of the creator talk. this is the second, this is I just think this is worth noting. This is the second incident of a similar-ish poor reaction this year between the golf creator universe and like mainstream. We had the the previous one with the YGL guys, and then they pull off, you know, they pull the
Scott Kitun (06:47)
The they write immediately put up the post that's like, hey, we didn't mean any harm, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And like this is the problem because what makes gol any creator, but golf creators in particular, but like any creator, what makes them so good is that they are irreverent, that they come on and they say whatever they say and they talk like golf sickles and they're in their garage and their gearheads. And it's what you and I like. It's talking about gambling, and it's, you know, the Saturdays are for the boys, and it's this kind of thing.
Scott Kitun (07:16)
That world, you can't really say anything wrong. Like you obviously you can, but like generally speaking, within reason, you can't really do anything. And and if there's an apology, like a typical guy, you send like a tomorrow text, like, shit, sorry, bro, and that it's over. We don't talk about it, it's over. They've entered the the the commercial world that is living weirdly, which we'll get to later about the live live. This is kind of a part of this too. They're kind of sitting between creator universe and
Scott Kitun (07:46)
Guys, you know, Saturdays for the guys, good, good stuff. And the PGA tour with relationships with gigantic corporations, with Rolex, with big banks, with people with big pockets who are a little bit older, do not find some of this shit funny, do not find any of they don't even know what the fuck YouTube is. And like in that world, somebody sees something PRE show up on their like buffer account on social saying that like there's elevated, you know, dislikes or something.
Scott Kitun (08:14)
And they set up a panic email out and then everyone freaks out because they don't want to lose their opportunity. And then they fuck up and then they act not the way that their fan base is used to. And and I feel like we talked about this beginning of the season with the Travis Kelsey stuff and ESPN and the Kelsey Brothers stuff. It's like you either gotta give it to me Jim Nance style, you gotta give it to me how I'm used to getting it. This blended world thing is is it's a huge opportunity for guys like you and I, but it's a I I think they've really not figured this out. Like you can't
Scott Kitun (08:43)
You really cannot be both. And that doesn't say anything about how stupid that ad was. That's a different thing.
Venmo Joe (09:07)
so BMW, we've got a a familiar winner this week, Wyndham Clark. Scott, I know you're happy about that. You you bought up, I think, every Wyndham Clark contract in the books. what we've seen from Wyndham this year, right? not all that dissimilar from what he did at Chinnicok, right? He he takes a lead, went wire to wire and
Venmo Joe (09:28)
When he's playing really well, he's he's tough to beat. He made it very interesting yesterday. I know you had a sweat that you weren't anticipating going into yesterday. but it allowed you to buy up some some cheaper contracts when Rory tied him after eleven. But I don't know. I I love BMW. We talked about it last week. I thought Bell Reeve was fantastic, right? Major major championship course.
Venmo Joe (09:55)
I think it got eaten up a little bit the first two days, right? I was pretty surprised to see, you know, there I think there was five or six guys that had a share of the first round lead at six under. So sixty like a lot of sixty-fours out there on Thursday. Wyndham and Gary didn't slow down on Friday. You know, I think Windham shot again at sixty four, Gary shot at sixty-five. But then I think you saw over the weekend the course fought back a little bit, right? Where
Venmo Joe (10:21)
Wyndham didn't have any bogeys the first thirty six holes. He couldn't stop bogeying yesterday for a period of time. So I thought that made it a lot more interesting where guys, you know, the the sixty threes and sixty fours weren't out there over the weekend, which I think made the tournament a lot more compelling. and you had to play really well, to go a couple under on that course over the weekend, right? Played super long, seventy five hundred yards,
Venmo Joe (10:48)
Ton of doubles out there, right? At least from the guys that I was I was tailing, of course. it seemed like they couldn't stay away from from doubles. but that I love those in tournaments, right? When you've got holes where water comes into play, not usually on hole number nine with Gary Woodland, but we'll get into that. But you know, water came into play on a bunch of different holes that that define the tournament. You had you know, Wyndham got really lucky on Saturday. I don't know if you were watching the coverage yet, but on that
Venmo Joe (11:18)
He doubles he doubles the first hole, Gary takes
Scott Kitun (11:20)
First hole.
Venmo Joe (11:20)
the lead. He goes to the second hole, which is that shorter par four and there's water on the left, and he like chunks his iron. And like based on the shot tracer, it looked like it was gonna go right into that pond, and he somehow came up short and he kinda stabilized his round from there. But just an enjoyable watch. and you know, Wyndham is is kind of been must watch this year when he contends.
Scott Kitun (11:46)
I mean, I I agree with you. I I feel like he tore Wyndham tore the shit I mean he ran the course up on Saturday. So like the weekend was harder, I agree with that. I think the story just reads differently because of what happened on on Sunday.
Venmo Joe (12:02)
Well, I he tore up the course after double bogeying, right? Like he was stuck in he was plus two for a long time on Saturday and then he then he then he torched it. Yeah, then he torched it.
Scott Kitun (12:09)
Yeah, but did he I mean that whole back nine was like six holes he yeah. So
Scott Kitun (12:13)
like he's got a five stroke lead coming into Sunday and it's like, Well this is pretty much done and and I did what I very rarely do, which is I go find a a bet that I'm just like and by the way, this is courtesy of you. We're sitting out having drinks on Friday night and you were like, Did you see Windham like that shit's over? He's got like, you know, open PGA style putting going on. It's not gonna like he's not gonna be
Scott Kitun (12:36)
you know, mess with today. And then of course Saturday comes out and lights the world on fire. So coming into Sunday, I'm like, fuck it. You know, there's like a seventy-two percent chance he's gonna win. I obviously it's hi it probably should have been higher than that, frankly. He was up five strokes, but probably because Rory was in the mix there, I was like, okay, the odds makers put him at 72 or 3%. So I smashed it. I was like, I'm gonna put a thousand bucks on on a seventy-one cent win. I'm not gonna take much money home. I mean a twenty nine twenty nine cents yippee.
Scott Kitun (13:04)
but I'm sure as shitty's gonna win it, so fuck it. Well, it's free money as far as I'm concerned. Well, turns out it wasn't free money. before I know it, it's three strokes. And before I know it again, it's one stroke. And so at three strokes, I was like, he'll get it figured out. Six holes, he's fine. He did this last time. So I smashed again at like 66 cents. And then next thing you know, it's one stroke, and I was like, shit, it's 55. Smashed it again, and then Rory ties him.
Scott Kitun (13:31)
And now I'm like, Jesus. And you go look on, I was using Robin Hood for prediction like I usually do. at one point it was as low as 33 or 34 cents, thirty so thirty-three percent chance that he's gonna win. Rory is now at sixty-seven percent chance to win.
Venmo Joe (13:44)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (13:45)
I had Rory, I bought Rory and Scotty a hundred dollars each at the beginning of the tournament. I sold Rory for probably like thirty cents on Saturday when it looked like he had like a little chance. And I made, you know, I don't know, I think I made twenty-five dollars or something on it. So it was not
Scott Kitun (14:01)
Nothing. But in my head I was like, Jesus Christ I sold the wrong thing. I'm an idiot.
Venmo Joe (14:03)
Just getting out of that, yeah. You got out of the position
Venmo Joe (14:05)
and then it looked like it was the right position.
Scott Kitun (14:08)
Yeah, and so like then once he's 33, I smashed it again for the final time and took my toll to like, you know, 2,000. It was close to 2,500 bucks, I think, ultimately, all in on it. and then he wins, but I I really don't think that we're talking about this tournament as as entertainingly so if he didn't lose that, because you know, I agree with you, Sunday was tough. Everyone kind of played like shit. Rory was overeating, he couldn't make certain putts. The 18th toll is really confusing to me.
Scott Kitun (14:37)
The same, you know, out of the rough I get, but then he open faces it into the trap, into the other trap, into the next. It was like, whoa, like what, like
Venmo Joe (14:42)
Yeah, it was made a mess.
Scott Kitun (14:43)
I was very surprised. but all in all, I really like the course. I thought your boy cousin Kale crush he nailed it on his description. He I mean he almost
Venmo Joe (14:53)
Thousand percent.
Scott Kitun (14:54)
nailed it on the what ended up happening to the tournament was even a a a callback to one of the tournaments that he referenced in our last episode.
Venmo Joe (15:01)
Exactly. Exactly.
Venmo Joe (15:03)
Exactly. Cousin Kale was on it. And he he sent me a a ticket yesterday morning on Wyndham. So he was I think he was excited to potentially open up some grape with with the B BMW champ afterwards. So cousin Kale was very happy. But yeah, he called it, right? Bomber's course. that's why you saw Woodland contend. right? You know, if you were driving the the ball well and it was really staying out of the rough, right? I I
Scott Kitun (15:28)
Yes.
Venmo Joe (15:28)
Unless
Venmo Joe (15:29)
you got like a terrible lie in the fairway bunker, it seemed like guys could still be aggressive out of the out of the bunker. that rough was was insane, right? Like I mean that that did some that
Scott Kitun (15:39)
It seemed to really throw those guys off.
Venmo Joe (15:41)
did some damage. But that's what I like seeing, especially when you have wider fairways. It's like, hey, the wider fairways are gonna encourage the guys to keep the big stick in their hands because why not? Wider fairway, long course, seventy five hundred yards like we talked about.
Venmo Joe (15:59)
if it's wide if it's wide like that and you can't hit it, you should be penalized, right? You shouldn't be able to it should be
Scott Kitun (16:05)
I agree.
Venmo Joe (16:06)
really hard to get a green in regulation if you're not hitting it in a fair way.
Scott Kitun (16:10)
Obviously, there are, you know, there's a mental there there's a part of the game that, and I think even Wyndham talked about it after the game, like after the match, saying basically, like, hey, I it was just foggy out there. I didn't like feel unprepared. It wasn't like I didn't know what I was doing or I couldn't do it. I just I felt like everything was a little blurry. I think you know a good course. Obviously, this is the best field in the world. 50 of the best players in the world playing right at the same time, same place.
Scott Kitun (16:38)
so that that changes things because it just puts a different sort of pressure on whoever's coming in with the lead on the f on the last day, which is always harder. I think it's easier to chase, especially easier to chase when you're playing against the the very best. But to me, it says a lot about the course and the setup when something like this actually happens. Cause it wasn't like he came out and had like meltdown city. We we could talk about Cantley and everybody else who were within one and double bogeyed their way in like
Venmo Joe (17:04)
Ha ha ha.
Scott Kitun (17:07)
When I t I texted you, when I smashed my second you know, ticket on on on Clark, it was when I saw that Cantley was who was behind him, I was like, that shit's a match, this
Venmo Joe (17:17)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (17:18)
guy's a fucking loser. Then he double bogeyed and I was
Venmo Joe (17:20)
Has there has there
Venmo Joe (17:21)
ever been a guy that got a c out of contention quicker than Cantley? Like it was ins I actually I actually well,
Scott Kitun (17:25)
No. Jean van de Vald? I don't know.
Venmo Joe (17:29)
I mean he carried the lead to the seventy second hole at least, right? Like that was like Cantley.
Scott Kitun (17:32)
No, I know, I know, I know. Yeah.
Venmo Joe (17:34)
I mean Cantley has not been in he hasn't won a tournament, I think, in like three years. It might have been like yeah, three three plus years, right? Ever since he
Scott Kitun (17:42)
I mean
Venmo Joe (17:42)
got hot at the VMW in twenty one and twenty two, he's been he can't win. But he finally gets tied for
Scott Kitun (17:47)
Surnames surnames are
Scott Kitun (17:49)
surnames for a reason, Joe.
Venmo Joe (17:50)
Yeah. He can't he finally gets tied for first and I mean I
Scott Kitun (17:55)
Can't lay.
Venmo Joe (17:56)
I texted I texted cousin Kale, I'm like, I feel bad for whoever's gotta clean up the shit from Patrick Cantley on hole eleven after he shipped out his leg 'cause I think he saw the leaderboard, he saw T one and he's like, Let me double bogey this and and make sure I'm out of contention really quick and then he's the guy that birnies his last three holes so that he can you know, he makes the money.
Scott Kitun (18:16)
Stay is in
Venmo Joe (18:17)
He just no, he he can't contend.
Scott Kitun (18:20)
He's Paul George. He's Paul George. He just is perfect. He just gets the most money ever, but doesn't actually win anything. but
Venmo Joe (18:26)
Exactly.
Scott Kitun (18:26)
the the point of this though is like it was not like and obviously you look at the whole round, you get the birdies at the end. it was not like Wend Wyndham Clark shit the round away. It was just bogey here, missed you just like couldn't make a fucking putt. He had multiple inside of 20-foot birdies, and that even for professionals, that's not a guaranteed make, but he made them for the last three days.
Scott Kitun (18:48)
So you'd expect him to at least make
Venmo Joe (18:48)
He made a bunch of
Scott Kitun (18:49)
a couple, and he didn't. Whereas, you know, I l I love Woodland. I'm a little tired of the crying on camera thing, but I do understand why, and it's a big deal, so I'm not gonna shit on it. I feel bad because he double bogeys. I know, I know. He
Venmo Joe (19:02)
He's my favorite pro, you better not shit on it.
Scott Kitun (19:05)
tops the ball and he bogeys it, you know, double bogeys, he tops it into the water, which is like a one of us moment. I can't even believe he did that. His face was like, what the fuck just happened? But like that, that kind of stuff happens anywhere.
Scott Kitun (19:17)
A good setup is how you have a guy like Wyndham Clark with a five-stroke lead come back to the field. Meanwhile, a bunch of other guys come up, one of them's Rory, and you finish this tournament, the last five holes, with like some locked-on, glued-to-the-fucking screen golf. It was incredible. And then he rolls it in on 18, and Rory shits the bed. And that's where I laugh because it was like, wait a minute, do I am I rooting? I mean, other than the money, am I rooting for Wyndham? Do I like this guy now?
Scott Kitun (19:46)
And then Rory says, hey man, you showed incredible character. That was a great, great fight. And I'll and I I don't even like Rory, but it was like, it just everything kind of your word from last week crystallized. In my head, I was like, my God, Wyndham's kinda weirdly likable I somehow. I don't know how.
Venmo Joe (20:03)
I well I think
Venmo Joe (20:04)
we tal I think we talked about it after Shinnecock 'cause we were like, man, they got like everyone was cheering against him, right? Like everyone was everyone was trying
Scott Kitun (20:11)
Shitting Yeah, and he still was like pff
Venmo Joe (20:13)
to to kind of will Scotty into contention, right? Or anyone I mean, remember we were saying like they were even cheering for Tom Kim over him. It's like that's that's
Scott Kitun (20:21)
Anyone.
Venmo Joe (20:21)
rough. And he took it in stride, right? Like he he just kept showing up and he kept making big putts at the US I
Venmo Joe (20:31)
I I I wouldn't say I've done a one hundred eighty on him. I'm not quite there yet, but like
Scott Kitun (20:34)
No, yeah.
Venmo Joe (20:35)
the disdain that I think you and I started the season with on Windham is definitely shrunk for sure. And like he he
Scott Kitun (20:43)
Yeah, he's I mean
Venmo Joe (20:44)
seems liked by he seems liked by guys that like his colleagues on the tour he seems liked by. which tells me that he's a better hang than we probably gave him credit for in earlier shows.
Scott Kitun (20:59)
Well, we talked about he's got the
Scott Kitun (21:00)
the like he's got the the he went to see a psych about the cranky shit. He'd have these meltdowns, a little bipolar reacting. It wasn't bipolar, but he had basically anxiety and was having all these things. Like, I I don't know. He he's just got one of those Bryson punchable face things going on. But then he says stuff and you're kinda like, yeah, I kinda like this guy. And then he goes out and and literally brass balls it. He went up against the second best player in golf and probably the top
Scott Kitun (21:29)
you know, generational player of this time with regard to majors and so forth, and you know, obviously
Venmo Joe (21:33)
So to so.
Scott Kitun (21:33)
this year. And Rory and he and he fucking toe-to-toe with them went birdie birdie birdie and slammed it home. It was like, whoa. Like that that takes brass balls, man. And he showed it. and then we learned also, of course, Joe,
Venmo Joe (21:45)
You're in.
Scott Kitun (21:45)
that that that Scotty played the first couple mat I mean the whole week, but he played the first one for sure with hand foot mouth, which I don't know if you have ever had, but holy shit.
Venmo Joe (21:56)
Yeah, that's a that's a little that I think all of our us parents that have had little kids, it just yeah, it's a it sucks. it'd be great to have known that, right? Like with how much money is gambled on these tournaments, it I always find it pretty wild when something like that comes out after the fact and it's like it's material information that would have helped inform some betting decisions.
Scott Kitun (22:23)
Well, we talked this is like the fourth time this year. We talked about with nap and the wrist, we talked about with Kepka
Venmo Joe (22:28)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (22:29)
and the numb, we talked about Kalamurakawa, all of a sudden was off the off the map.
Venmo Joe (22:33)
With the back, yep.
Scott Kitun (22:34)
so you know, what we're saying, guys, is golf is now becoming popular enough that we need an injury report. That's kind of what we're saying.
Venmo Joe (22:41)
A thousand percent absol fucking
Scott Kitun (22:44)
I
Venmo Joe (22:44)
lully.
Scott Kitun (22:45)
I I totally subscribe to that. I just, you know, I Jen had handful, we all had handful mouth a couple times. She got it bad enough where I saw what this could be. And I personally am, you know, in invincible, so I didn't have any symptoms, but I've heard it's bad. Then there's these fucking idiots
Venmo Joe (23:00)
Unbreakable.
Scott Kitun (23:01)
on Twitter who are like, he shouldn't have even been able to play because it's contagious, and it's just like, well, you're obviously a a fucking idiot, so ugh. But either way, I felt bad, because that sucks.
Venmo Joe (23:09)
Yeah, yeah. No, he could've it for sure, that's
Venmo Joe (23:14)
that that does suck, for sure. I don't know, he's he he's had he's had a weird run of things, right? Hand foot mouth, cutting himself before the season, like it's just I don't know, maybe the weird stuff is all that's stopping Scotty from just winning every tournament.
Scott Kitun (23:31)
I mean there's weird stuff that we've seen before, like flipping a Genesis around and you know, having issues with your wife batting a hole in the side of your Cadillac and there are
Venmo Joe (23:39)
God.
Scott Kitun (23:40)
other other things that have derailed greatness in the past, Joe, so it's not first time. This is wholesome.
Venmo Joe (23:43)
I I will say though, like, don't you do you feel the same way?
Venmo Joe (23:47)
Do you feel the same way in a tournament where Scotty like 'cause he had the this Thursday struggles earlier this season and then obviously he was like dead last for most of the
Scott Kitun (23:57)
Yeah, literally.
Venmo Joe (23:58)
first round that like I like Scotty. I get excited when that happens though, because I'm like, great, this is a tournament where it's not gonna just be Scotty goes wins by seven strokes. He could come back and win, but
Venmo Joe (24:11)
He's not gonna get he's not gonna get some crazy commanding lead because he puts himself so far back. So like I don't know. When I saw that on Thursday, I like, thank God. I'm like, now we're gonna have like an actual tournament where I can I can maybe win on some of my tickets because we're getting Scotty out of the mix and I don't know. It just it it made for better viewing for me. And that that's probably purely driven from gambling purposes, but I always like when he puts himself in that hole 'cause it's not like
Venmo Joe (24:39)
The worst thing is on a Thursday, he starts off on fire and you're like, the tournament's over, right? Like he if he gets a lead on Thursday, it's it's like you kind of just have that feeling where, man, I was really pumped for this tournament and Scotty's just gonna run away with it. So that was that was a pleasant surprise on Thursday to be like this guy, if he does come back, is gonna have to play some absolutely insane golf, and even if he does, it's still gonna be a tight tournament.
Scott Kitun (25:04)
Well, as someone who had him in your in your pool for this week, I politely disagree with you. Not the same thing for me.
Venmo Joe (25:09)
I've de
Venmo Joe (25:13)
I have I have never picked him in the DraftKings pool that I run. It's just his salary never makes sense. I mean it's it's insane. Like his salary
Scott Kitun (25:22)
I
Venmo Joe (25:23)
is fit what, fourteen thousand like you have fifteen you have fifty thout
Scott Kitun (25:26)
Seventeen thousand.
Venmo Joe (25:27)
you have fifty thousand dollars to spend on six golfers and you've got to spend a majority of it to get Scotty. just can't do it.
Scott Kitun (25:35)
Normally,
Scott Kitun (25:36)
I I I've done it one time before he was at the crazy odds this year when he was like not winning and his he kind of like evened out for a minute. I did it one time. he actually, I think he top five did it, so it wasn't like I really lost, you know, it was not great value, but I didn't like lose out totally. This one, I smashed the button on him because I actually and it it almost turned out right. Like I had put
Scott Kitun (25:58)
My faith in like the older guys who are gonna make a run to get themselves into the top twenty five and look at so like I did a little Justin Rose, I did your boy Adam Scott, I had him, I had I had the guy guys that you gave me names, Reeton, Christopher Reeton, I had him on, I
Venmo Joe (26:13)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (26:14)
had who did else I have? I I gotta got fucked on Siwoo Kim. That was the other one. I if I could've gone back, I wouldn't have taken Nico and Siwoo. I would have split it up and done two guys, you know, more like the JT Polston and
Scott Kitun (26:27)
and or Gerard or somebody who were more like seven thousand and and I would have been contendee despite Scotty's you know, 'cause like I think in the end, granted, it's only a fifty person field, but I think four of my six were top twenty or top twenty twenty three or whatever however it broke out.
Venmo Joe (26:41)
Yeah,
Venmo Joe (26:41)
it's just like a t it's just like a weird pool because I had buddies texting me being like, Hey, where's the cut? I'm like, There is no cut. Like that's like that's what it's e
Scott Kitun (26:47)
There isn't one. Obviously, you're not a listener of our podcast.
Venmo Joe (26:51)
exactly right. because that's what usually, you know, differentiates in those pools is that when it's you know, 'cause we always do for the majors, obviously big fields, there's cuts and if you get all six of your guys through to the weekend, even if you don't have a guy that's like winning, if you get all six guys, you're in a great spot.
Venmo Joe (27:10)
makes it harder for the BMW because it's just, you know, you're not losing anyone. And everyone kinda like merged outside of obviously the guys that that got into double figures. There was a lot of guys that just were in that like minus five,
Scott Kitun (27:21)
I had one of
Venmo Joe (27:22)
minus six range, right? That just like our boy Ludwig, man, that guy. That I thought this course was tailor made for him and he started great on Thursday and then just proceeded to like go two under over the next fifty-four holes. Just a terrible
Venmo Joe (27:40)
I he's on the he's on the please note for the manifesto purposes that Ludwig is on the ban list.
Scott Kitun (27:46)
Yeah, I mean, he's gotta he's gotta win one. I mean, he is on the Tommy Fleetwood list for me of like, I love I think you're fucking awesome. A win in one of these tournaments while impressive doesn't count. I need to see you go into a big field full of play good players and win it out. I don't know. Whatever. Either way, I just I all I was gonna say about the Scotty comment on the gambling piece of this is that like in a 50-person field, no cut, where you have the fifty best golfers on the planet. I don't feel bad about
Scott Kitun (28:13)
Giving an unweighted dollar to Scotty Scheffler after he just tattooed the field last week. Didn't know
Venmo Joe (28:19)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (28:19)
that he had fucking sores on his hands and probably everything else. That would have changed my my that would have changed my grip a little bit. that said, you know, I I thought in general the tournament was great, and I I cannot wait until next week, which will be viewed from our your
Scott Kitun (28:40)
you and Mike Wilson's the the champions of Ryder Cup here. You're hosting our Friends Ryder Cup weekend next weekend where we get to watch the championship and maybe podcast live. So it's it's I can't wait for next week.
Venmo Joe (28:50)
we're
Venmo Joe (28:50)
gonna we're gonna podcast live for for our listeners. So we we have been doing a Friends Rider Cup since twenty twenty. I'm lucky enough to have big kit, Scotty Coutun, on my team as a what are you, six handicap? Is that what we locked you in at? Six or seven? eight
Scott Kitun (29:04)
That's what they're saying. That's what they're saying. I think they're saying six.
Venmo Joe (29:08)
but this is biggest rider cup that we've done, eight versus eight. ending it singles match Saturday at Aaron Hills, which I can't wait for. And
Venmo Joe (29:19)
Spoiler alert, you and I will we'll be in that group together, playing two of their two of their team members and and we're gonna get two points and we're gonna win the fucking rider cup, my man.
Scott Kitun (29:30)
It's already over. I was thinking about which one of these putters I should get a new head cover with for this, you know, I feel like just
Venmo Joe (29:37)
How many putters
Venmo Joe (29:37)
are you bringing? Like fifteen? Is that gonna be your whole bag? It's just different putters?
Scott Kitun (29:40)
No, I have I am I I will tell you
Scott Kitun (29:43)
for the just for the record I stopped by today to confirm this. I am officially a Bedonardi putter guy. This is official as of today. I stuck by the studio
Venmo Joe (29:52)
Me too. So we will you and I will be there.
Scott Kitun (29:55)
today. I stopped by. I told him I'm keeping the putter. I appreciated it. They gave me a bunch of tour department gear that I'm gonna get to sport this set this this weekend with you guys. It's like awesome. I'm serious shout out to Bedonardi Golf.
Scott Kitun (30:10)
Like got the
Venmo Joe (30:10)
What is the gear that they got you?
Scott Kitun (30:12)
precision pro Bettonarty tour department caddy thing, like the whole, the real, like the real deal
Venmo Joe (30:18)
wow.
Scott Kitun (30:19)
that that they've got. I got sticks cover, alignment sticks cover, Betton Artie, like tour department one they gave me. I'm I'm rolling with the the the Bettonarty BB48 fits face that they custom custom fitted for me. So I'm I'm all in. They kept
Venmo Joe (30:37)
You're ready.
Scott Kitun (30:38)
challenging.
Scott Kitun (30:38)
They kept trying to tell me it's time to ditch the mirror wedges and switch over to the HLX6, they have. But they were like, you know what? We're gonna probably come out with one in 27, maybe. So we'll we'll let you ride with the mirror wedges because that's that's a tough one. You're gonna need to send me a check. I appreciate the gear, but I'm gonna need some some greenbacks if you want me to get rid of the wedges. So, anyway, excited,
Venmo Joe (31:00)
Ha ha ha.
Scott Kitun (31:02)
it's excited for that. I'm bringing that. I will have one of your buddies, I don't even know who the fuck it was. Somebody texted me.
Scott Kitun (31:09)
From the thread, but I don't have their number saying that they're they're putters in Green Bay. Could I bring a putter on our team? Maybe it's Ben. I don't know who somebody on our team needs a putter. So I'm bringing this this lab golf link two for them to use. It is
Venmo Joe (31:24)
I'm ca I'm concern
Venmo Joe (31:25)
I'm concerned on who needs a putter on our team.
Scott Kitun (31:29)
Yeah, well this is a great putter. They're not gonna miss any putts with it. but I should also mention it's for sale right now for five hundred and fifteen dollars
Venmo Joe (31:34)
It's still still concerning.
Scott Kitun (31:36)
on eBay. So if it gets sold between now and Thursday, that guy's gonna need to find a putter.
Venmo Joe (31:43)
I don't know who it is 'cause it's not in our it's not in our team chat. Did they did they text you separately?
Scott Kitun (31:48)
No, they texted me on the side. I don't
Scott Kitun (31:50)
even Yeah, yeah, it was a separate text. let's see if I can find it. I'll give you the number. I won't read it on here. maybe I should read it on here. yeah. It's an eight four seven, so it's gotta be one of your guys. It says, hey. No. Four five two. It says, no strokes, listener. I'm well
Venmo Joe (32:03)
eight four seven four seven six. Okay. Hold on. Wait, that's a that's
Venmo Joe (32:11)
s that's O C
Scott Kitun (32:13)
shit. C. Alright well
Venmo Joe (32:14)
How w first off,
Venmo Joe (32:15)
how do you not have O. C. in your phone? And second off, O. C. where the fuck is your putter?
Scott Kitun (32:20)
He says it's long story short, it's in Green Bay. I heard you have a great putter collection. That changes things, Joe. I'm bringing all OC's great, and he's on our team as a great golfer. OC, if you're listening to this show, you have a choice between a Yamata Blade. I can get you hooked up here in the Link 2.2, which I really like. Zero Torque. And if you're gonna be a legend and play like a legend and win like a legend, there is only one putter.
Scott Kitun (32:50)
That is the legend. And in true Bednerty
Venmo Joe (32:52)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (32:53)
style, there's a Bedonardi Trillium inside of the camera in here, so we're we're fucking rolling. We're gonna have the whole thing. I'm bringing them all, baby.
Venmo Joe (32:59)
I mean,
Venmo Joe (32:59)
he he texted the right guy, that's for sure. What what I think what I think is
Scott Kitun (33:02)
He certainly did. He's gonna have one of the best putters in the country.
Venmo Joe (33:06)
what I think is gonna be funny is that we're gonna ha you and I are sharing a caddy on Saturday and we're both gonna be rocking Batonardi putters and the caddy's gonna like how often does that happen? That can't be very very frequent where two guys have Bentonardi putters, but they're the best in the
Scott Kitun (33:23)
I
Venmo Joe (33:23)
game.
Scott Kitun (33:24)
the you know what it tells me is we're gonna have a bunch of pictures to share and that should only help our cause of having this show brought to you by Bat Nardi in the future. That's the goal. That's the goal here. We're gonna work our way in.
Venmo Joe (33:33)
Exactly. The studio in Oak
Venmo Joe (33:35)
the studio in Oakbrook.
Scott Kitun (33:37)
So cool. all right, we gotta we gotta wrap shortly here, but I wanna wanna tee up. What do we got? What do we have to look forward to other than our Ryder Cup? We're gonna be watching this golf regardless. I sure as sure should plan on having it in the cart. So what are we what are you expecting for the
Venmo Joe (33:49)
thousand thousand percent.
Scott Kitun (33:51)
FedEx Cup final tournament of the year for the regular shit for the whole kit and caboodle trophy? what are you expecting from the tournament itself? This is one of those where you know, top 30 players in the world, you know, anything can happen. I expect really, really, really sharp.
Scott Kitun (34:07)
Golf. I don't necessarily expect anyone to to run away with it, but I I think you're gonna have like four or five guys
Venmo Joe (34:13)
Well they got
Scott Kitun (34:14)
who are playing their absolute best.
Venmo Joe (34:16)
They've gotten rid of the staggered scoring system, thank God, right? So the thirty guys that are playing are are starting at even par. So we're away from you know, Scotty being in in first and ten
Scott Kitun (34:26)
Yep. It's not over.
Venmo Joe (34:28)
under, right? So it's an actual tournament. you know, they're going back to East Lake Club. They've been they've been doing the tour championship there since two thousand four. they did restore it back in in twenty twenty four, so they lengthened the course.
Venmo Joe (34:44)
Like about a hundred yards, still a par seventy. converted the greens to Tiff Eagle Bermuda, redesigned the size shape, of some of the runoff areas of each green complex. So it does look a little bit different. but at the end of the day, like it's it's kind of one of those bomber par seventy courses, Bermuda Greens, Bermuda Rough, it's a Donald Ross, you know, some of the comp courses are actually.
Venmo Joe (35:13)
Two of the playoff courses that we just saw, right? So if you've got guys that played well at TPC Southwin and Bell Reeve, those are great comp courses. So is Quail Hollow, right? Which is, you know, the Rory McElroy Country Club. Personally, I like I like this as I'm trying to draw a comparison to last year, right? Where
Scott Kitun (35:36)
Yep.
Venmo Joe (35:37)
Tommy Fleetwood finally got the monkey off of his back and won a tournament.
Venmo Joe (35:43)
I think I think this is a Sam Burns week. I think this is he he's played better than anyone who hasn't won a tournament this year. He's due for a big win. I like his I like his chances this week. Obviously he played really well at TPC Southwind, which is a comp course not so well this past week, but they really just got started a little bit slow and then came alive the last three rounds. But you know
Venmo Joe (36:11)
Think of anyone that that you liked the first two playoff weeks, right? I think this is another good Gary Woodland course, right? Since we're we're comparing it to Bel Reeve. It's hard not to like Rory and Scotty, because they've both had success here. You know, Xander's had a lot of success here. I just I personally am gonna stay away from Xander. I just something's clearly missing with him this year. I don't look I don't see this being the week that you know he erases kind of a pretty disappointing.
Venmo Joe (36:41)
2026 and wins. I would stay away from him on that. the guidance I would give is is play something live because it's 30 guys, it's no cut, and the odds are there's not a lot of value on the board right now. Like I love Sam Burns. Sam Burns is 15 to 1. That sucks. Right? So I'm gonna look for I'm gonna circle a couple of guys and track them.
Venmo Joe (37:08)
Thursday, see how they're they're faring kind of through the first nine, see if I can get some value on on some of those guys that that I listed out now versus playing them pre-tournament. Not really a tournament that you want to do top five, top ten, top twenty parlays. There's thirty guys, right? The odds aren't gonna be great. Really, I think the value is gonna be in trying to pluck a winner sometime live, end of first round, start a second round.
Venmo Joe (37:37)
Where a guy you like instead of being fifteen to one, maybe he's at fifty to one.
Scott Kitun (37:41)
Not a lot of not a lot of top twenty value in this week's tournament, Joe.
Venmo Joe (37:44)
Zero, zero. I mean there's not there's not
Venmo Joe (37:47)
top ten value, right? I mean like th it's really
Scott Kitun (37:49)
No.
Venmo Joe (37:50)
can you find a guy that you like to to win at odds that aren't five to fifteen to one?
Scott Kitun (37:57)
I'm just running down my numbers. I like that's funny. I'm gonna say this after I've been talking all this shit for pretty much well, really my whole life about this one. Patrick Cantley. He actually is like almost designed, other than the fact that he he shits in his pants and doesn't wear depends. He is literally game. His golf game is is designed perfectly for East Lake.
Venmo Joe (38:18)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (38:18)
He's a match made in Heaven East Lake. He's a 43% chance of top tenning. So again, you know, odds aren't great there.
Scott Kitun (38:26)
A top five for him, I would not be surprised. I can't I can't pick him as a winner for anything until that's just never
Venmo Joe (38:30)
Can't bet him to win, correct.
Scott Kitun (38:32)
gonna happen. But I do think a top five for him feels really good. I've been on him, including last week, Siwoo Kim, and I'm gonna say this and then it's gonna go, of course, blow up my face. I don't love him as much as the current betting odds for him are. Like they're obviously bullish on him being very good and he's been on a on a heater. I just don't love him here. I don't know why.
Scott Kitun (38:55)
You know, I I feel like it's just he I I don't I don't even know. I wish I could say why. There he he doesn't have some of the intangible pieces. Another guy that people are really looking for, the big comeback is Cam Young. I I don't I don't see it here. I I think he could come in and contend and do all a day. I think that putting right now is a problem. And I think the bent grass for him is a real problem. I don't know that I love him unless he starts off with a huge lead. I don't love him coming back into into contention.
Scott Kitun (39:23)
Your boy Ludwig is on all the charts here. I don't know, he's got the bombers profile
Venmo Joe (39:27)
Mm-hmm.
Scott Kitun (39:27)
you're looking for. Fucker hasn't won. To me, that's the one that fits, if you want to be fair, like that's the one that fits the Tommy Fleetwood model even more than Sam Burns. Cause I feel like Tommy Fleetwood, Tommy Ladd, as we talk about, I maybe I was watching the wrong shows, but when I watched Tommy for the previous three or four years before he won here, I was watching a guy who never really was in it. Like he he was in it, like
Scott Kitun (39:52)
Day Thursday, Friday a little, or it's Friday, Saturday, Sundays. It wasn't like, man, he just like was in the final pairing and we just didn't it didn't come through. Sam Burns like literally had the the biscuit taken out of his mouth three times this year. And he's won a tournament before. He
Venmo Joe (40:08)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (40:08)
is my pick, by the way, as well. I I left him for my one and done. If we had another pool, which I sure hope you sent an email out for, I I would have Sam Burns.
Venmo Joe (40:16)
Not this week. No
Venmo Joe (40:17)
not with thirty. This is not enough. It's not enough. You're gonna you're gonna have two no. Yeah,
Scott Kitun (40:22)
I think it's always enough. You just gotta up the ante to where there's only five people playing.
Venmo Joe (40:27)
you and I can just put that money into Sam Burns tickets to
Scott Kitun (40:30)
I mean we could do both. That's I'm just trying to convince you, you know.
Venmo Joe (40:32)
I I don't
Venmo Joe (40:34)
I hear what you're saying I love like let's not for Tommy had some heartbreaking losses leading into the tour championship. He was he fucking lost on the seventy second hole last year at the Travelers to Keegan. Right? So like he was in he was in contention.
Scott Kitun (40:47)
Jesus Christ. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.
Venmo Joe (40:50)
He was in contention. forgot about that. Yeah.
Scott Kitun (40:52)
I forgot about that. I f I completely
Scott Kitun (40:54)
forgot about the Keegan Bradley blow up. Jesus. You're right. Yeah, you know, I take it back then then yeah, you're then
Venmo Joe (40:57)
Okay, well Keegan is Keegan
Venmo Joe (41:00)
has been I just look at it like I don't know, golf gods most of the time are not fair, but like if the golf gods were to be fair, I think the guy that's most deserving of having one win this year that doesn't have one is Sam Burns. Just with how consistent he's been, with how well he played at all of the ma I don't know how how much contention he was into the Masters, but he was in contention of every other major
Venmo Joe (41:27)
where he had a chance to win, you know, was in the final group two weeks ago at at Southwind and it just you know, it was a disappointing day for him. I that's the guy I have I have circled. I do like your Cantley play as far as top five, 'cause that like you
Scott Kitun (41:45)
Yes.
Venmo Joe (41:45)
are correct. Like the model loves him. and like he has played really well the first two playoff events, right? just don't bet him to win, bet him top five.
Venmo Joe (41:57)
but yeah, I I think it's a Burns week. I think let's ride let's r let's get one last winner this year. Sammy Burns, you and I will be celebrating a Ryder Cup on Saturday and then we'll be celebrating an outright on Sunday. How does that sound?
Scott Kitun (42:11)
I absolutely love it. I I have to ask the question because we've been talking about him all year. Tom Kim, is this a turn by the way, just real quick, Gary Woodland, as you mentioned before already, I really like him in this. I think that he had one hole with a stupid, it wasn't
Venmo Joe (42:23)
me too. Me too. Yeah, that was it.
Scott Kitun (42:26)
even a bad hole, it was one bad shot. And he he he was, you know, previously, I would worry that that would be like, okay, Gary Woodland's out. Again, the crying thing, but he was so honest. He was like, I fucking duffed it.
Scott Kitun (42:40)
Like no no. I really like Gary Woodland this week.
Venmo Joe (42:42)
I think he was I li
Venmo Joe (42:45)
I do too. I think there's value that like he's actually one of the guys where there's value 'cause he I think he's sixty to one. I think a a little Burns a Burns win plus a plus a Gary top five or top ten could get you a little bit of a
Scott Kitun (43:01)
I like Tom Kim for
Scott Kitun (43:02)
some reason here too. That was what I was saying before I interrupted myself with Woodland because I was just looking at the list. He's
Venmo Joe (43:07)
What's his odds?
Scott Kitun (43:09)
I don't I don't have it right in front of me, but he, you know, he's 29th in the field. He this year he's got the win. He's got four top tens.
Venmo Joe (43:20)
Yeah, he's obviously trending, right? didn't play tournaments. Yeah.
Scott Kitun (43:22)
I mean, but he's like it's been every couple of tournaments he's really, really tight.
Scott Kitun (43:26)
This last one he was not good, but before that he was like in the middle. Before that he was in the top ten. So like there's and then there's East Lake, I feel like that's a course that he could do really well on. I don't know. That would be one of the kind of sleeper ones I would I would look at. That's all.
Venmo Joe (43:39)
I like that a lot. he wanted some money obviously this year. I like going going further down the the board, Jacob Bridgman is a forgotten man. That guy he played really
Scott Kitun (43:53)
Yeah, he's coming around again. Last couple of tournaments.
Venmo Joe (43:56)
well yesterday, 'cause I I I bet him in a head to head against I think it was Henley and he beat the shit out of Henley. Best putter in the world that's not Sam Burns, is Jacob Bridgman.
Venmo Joe (44:09)
I don't think I would assume he hasn't played East Lake before, so that would be the call out. I d I would assume this is his first tour championship, right? This is the year he came on the scene.
Scott Kitun (44:18)
It's gotta be
Venmo Joe (44:19)
He won the Genesis. But dude, the Genesis is a big tournament, right? And like he went up against he played in the final group with Rory at the Genesis and that's at that's at Riv, right? That's like that's a that's a top ten tournament in the world every year.
Venmo Joe (44:36)
I I think I there is some value there just with what I saw and how he played this weekend at Bell Reve. Very intrigued by that. Looking at this album, man, our boy Akshay is just fallen. I mean, dude, he is like I mean, dude. No.
Scott Kitun (44:49)
Yeah, he had a h he's had a rough there was a whole thing on it with his wife. did you see it? His his his
Scott Kitun (44:54)
wife did a video with him talking about you got a snap out of it and he he had a whole mental kinda like rewrite midway through the year. I I everyone
Venmo Joe (45:00)
interesting. okay. Well
Scott Kitun (45:04)
rooting for him, but he definitely had a moment. So I I feel I feel bad for him. He's just kinda riding out the success of the beginning of the year working his like total reconstruction mentally and golf game wise. So I I'm leaving him off the card but
Venmo Joe (45:14)
Maybe maybe someone maybe
Venmo Joe (45:15)
we someone we circle next year though, right? Like that sounds like sounds like the
Scott Kitun (45:19)
a hundred percent. Yeah. I
Venmo Joe (45:20)
break is gonna be is gonna be good for him. Mama's boy Alex Smalley played really well this weekend too. But I just I don't love having a ticket on him. I don't love having a ticket on him, but he played really well.
Scott Kitun (45:29)
He did and rumors rumors are that no ru rumor has it his mom's
Scott Kitun (45:36)
been hanging around Atlanta all week. So she didn't even hang out there. She she show she left St. Louis on Tuesday. She's been hanging out in Atlanta, running around. I heard she's on the circuit out there. I don't I don't know. She's she's seeing sh checking shit out.
Venmo Joe (45:47)
Is she i is she is she s
Venmo Joe (45:50)
is she somewhere where there's really good wings?
Scott Kitun (45:53)
have you been to Atlanta? There's wings everywhere in Atlanta. They're all fucking good.
Venmo Joe (45:56)
Well, there's
Venmo Joe (45:56)
one specific spot that I'm talking about. If you know, you know.
Scott Kitun (46:00)
you
Scott Kitun (46:00)
mean the place that has a couple of other things that also are there? The ph fin just fantastic buffet at lunch, I heard.
Venmo Joe (46:04)
There there might there
Venmo Joe (46:05)
might there might be some magic in that city.
Scott Kitun (46:08)
I've heard I've heard great stories. last, last but not least, I'm just calling this out. Every week we like to throw money on a rando, someone that's just sort of rooting for for no reason. I'm throwing money on a on a win it for Bobby Mack, the Scottish prick. I just I
Venmo Joe (46:24)
Scottish prick.
Scott Kitun (46:25)
yeah, he's just been on this weird, like, you are
Venmo Joe (46:28)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (46:28)
one whole or one.
Scott Kitun (46:30)
Ma one like nine hole away from being in contention for like five weeks in a row and you just have a blow up, but then you don't treat it like a normal person where you're like, you know, had a bad day. He's like fuck this and fuck that and he's breaking shit everywhere, calling out everybody. I'm in sold. Fucking sold.
Venmo Joe (46:47)
I I like that.
Venmo Joe (46:48)
I like Bobby Mack. Well, he's a guy he's a guy that like all of a sudden like he's on a heater and you're like, Fuck, Bobby Mack just made six birdies in a row. I like that. I don't love our boy Hovland. I just I did not like what I saw from him at at Bell Reeve. Basically w he it does it
Scott Kitun (47:05)
He's still searching for it a little bit. Seems like it. I don't know why.
Venmo Joe (47:08)
does see and like you know what's infuriating about he cannot stay like every round he has at least one double bogey. So like
Scott Kitun (47:16)
Yes.
Venmo Joe (47:17)
not playing consistent enough. He's a he's a stay away for me. But I I mean I think we I I like the guys that we threw out there. I think definitely some value there pairing it with with with a Sam Burns win. So we'll figure it out.
Scott Kitun (47:35)
Okay.
Venmo Joe (47:35)
We'll make s we'll make some money on our last our last tournament our last tournament of twenty six before we go into our fall season. What about before we
Scott Kitun (47:43)
I love it.
Venmo Joe (47:44)
drop
Venmo Joe (47:44)
Before we drop, w any parting thoughts on Live One point and their their swan song in Indianapolis?
Scott Kitun (47:53)
R yeah, RIP. I'm really I am actually as a nerd excited to see what if they can put together a two point I really hope that if they do, they they try to turn it into more of a digital kind of thing that has a playbook where it works with PGA and it doesn't exclude people from playing on different tours, which it seems like that's the angle, that's their only angle. It it leaves the question mark, of course, we've talked about before.
Venmo Joe (48:14)
I just I don't see the I
Venmo Joe (48:16)
don't see the PGA throwing them a lifeline. Why would that?
Scott Kitun (48:20)
Well no, they don't need to. I think live itself needs to be needs to be invested in by somebody like tr you know, k first off, this money that's been invested committed, it doesn't mean that it's committed actually. And it
Venmo Joe (48:29)
It's just that well you
Venmo Joe (48:30)
do it no you would know way better than this than me. I mean you raise money for a living, but what I was reading is But it's but it's just a
Scott Kitun (48:34)
It's a chip to raise enough money to be able to go all the way and if they don't get all the way then that chip gets taken off the table.
Venmo Joe (48:40)
and it's just a term sheet at this point in time, right? It's with some B what was it, B C partners, I think. and you don't even know if they're investing in it or if it's a line of credit, right? There's way there's there's no detail
Scott Kitun (48:52)
Yeah, I mean,
Venmo Joe (48:53)
that they're giving, right?
Scott Kitun (48:54)
and they're not they're they're saying, hey man, I'm gonna give you enough money as your lead investor on this that if you can go rally and get the other billion you need, then like great, and we're a quarter of it, and we're gonna have all kinds of preferences and so forth. And if they don't, then it gets pulled off and it doesn't exist. The fact that they canceled the rest of the tournaments of the year to me is kind of indicative of what's happening. John Rahm is very clearly making his way back to DP. You heard Rory and you've heard Scotty, you've heard literally everybody talk about the on-ramp is not going to be the same as it was before.
Scott Kitun (49:22)
We have talked about this a bunch of times. I just think that they should let it go. I know there are certain players are going to be pissed. There should be a fine. These guys are rich. Here's the fine. Let them get on. It minimally they got to file Brooks Kapka. It can't be less than that. You have to work your way back on tour, just like any other guy who's not been playing on tour. You lost your card. You got to get your card
Venmo Joe (49:39)
You gotta I think I think the I think the path is
Scott Kitun (49:42)
back.
Venmo Joe (49:43)
I don't know if they're gonna offer the Kepka package. I mean if they did it would probably
Scott Kitun (49:48)
No, they're not.
Venmo Joe (49:49)
it would probably only be to like Rom. I don't even think they'd offer it to to
Scott Kitun (49:52)
Rum Hatton
Venmo Joe (49:54)
De Sh dude DeShambo let's not forget DeSham DeShambeau was part he
Scott Kitun (49:56)
no no he's he's making it harder for himself.
Venmo Joe (49:59)
was part of the the original lawsuit, right? He sued the PGA
Scott Kitun (50:03)
Yeah, fuck him.
Venmo Joe (50:04)
tour, like
Venmo Joe (50:07)
A guy like Dustin Johnson, like I think the PJ Tour would like
Scott Kitun (50:09)
Who cares?
Venmo Joe (50:10)
if if DJ was still playing well, I think the PJ Tour would be like, Yeah, DJ, come back. Like you never said anything, you never like he never cared. It was just about the bag of money for him.
Scott Kitun (50:19)
They would have just they'd
Scott Kitun (50:20)
bring him on just to bring Paulina back. They don't care.
Venmo Joe (50:23)
Yeah, he was there was a lot of golfers that were dis like I was reading Alan Chipnuck had a great article kinda like you know, he was in Indy this week and he said that Liv had a staffer following him, like basically spying on him and eavesdropping on every interview and just making sure that he didn't capture anything that they didn't want him to capture. He was like it was like getting an assignment in North Korea.
Venmo Joe (50:52)
Like that's how they were treating him.
Scott Kitun (50:55)
Well consider the original source.
Venmo Joe (50:57)
But but he I like I don't mind Chip Knock me. I think I like his Ryla, his Rory book was good, his live book was good. yeah, a thousand percent. but in it but it but in his article
Scott Kitun (51:02)
No, I was talking about the the investors, the the the the piff, the Saudi PIF. That's it seems very Khrushchev.
Venmo Joe (51:10)
he was talking about s like dude just some of the absurdity of like Taylor Gooch, first and foremost. Like, do you remember when he was getting interviewed? I think it was the first season, and
Venmo Joe (51:21)
That's when he was on the four aces and they won and he's like, I can't imagine a Ryder Cup or President's Cup being any bigger than today was. And then I forgot he went to live, but he had qualified for the playoffs, like the FedEx Cup playoffs, and he fucking showed up. He had already gone to live, but he like showed up at the playoff event trying to like cause I guess there was a judge that was like gonna potentially issue a temporary like
Scott Kitun (51:50)
Yeah. Injunction or whatever, yeah.
Venmo Joe (51:50)
injunction allowing him to play, like
Venmo Joe (51:53)
there was just so many absurd things that happened those like I would say the first two years of Live, like when they were embolted and like they really thought that like they were gonna take out the PGA tour and they had the full support of Piff and all the money and they were spending money like drunken sailors and like from what that was to what I kind of saw on the internet this weekend, man, it's just like completely different.
Scott Kitun (52:18)
You mean a bunch
Scott Kitun (52:19)
of dudes walking around playing golf in shorts with house music? This looked
Venmo Joe (52:22)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (52:23)
like a fucking Disney cruise. It was ridiculous.
Venmo Joe (52:25)
I mean
Venmo Joe (52:26)
I that's what it always was, right? But it's just like I you could just see that the belief that those guys had originally, like, has been just completely sucked out of right? Like and I you think you're bigger than the game. For sure, and they weren't.
Scott Kitun (52:35)
Well, when you're rich you think you're bigger than the game and they all thought that. The I'll I'll leave
Scott Kitun (52:39)
on this. The the only the only storyline that I really want to see is like a a a challenger onboarding where you have to earn your card back just like anyone else, and I want to see Anthony Kim not be done golfing in a meaningful way. Because he's made a ton of headways and it's like if that guy could
Venmo Joe (52:50)
Thousand percent. And that's I'm saying. And that's
Scott Kitun (52:54)
get a shot, one exemption, I'd f dude, would love it.
Venmo Joe (52:57)
That's
Venmo Joe (52:57)
the that's the live, you know, people make f and there's a lot to make fun of. The two things that they did. One is I think they they shined a light on big time national opens in countries that have not gotten professional golf, right? So like and I think the PGA tour has taken notice, right? Like Australia is starred for professional golf, South Korea is is starred for so like I think that was one thing that they did where
Venmo Joe (53:25)
Hey, there is an appetite for this around the world, and the best in the world should be doing national opens in some of those countries. and then the second thing was the Anthony Kim comeback story, right? Like letting him come back to to the professional golf world like in a different way, right? And really struggling those first two years on Live and like them not cutting him off completely and
Venmo Joe (53:51)
Letting him earn a his an opportunity to play in twenty-six and then delivering, I think the best moment that Liv ever had, right? Which was Anthony Kim going and winning at Adelaide against Rahman Bryson. Like that that was must see TV. Unfortunately, it happened at like four in the morning, but they they they got that right. I'll give them credit on that.
Scott Kitun (54:14)
It's gonna be a blast. Either way, this has been fun. The season is like I said at the beginning, the show's not over, the fun's not over, the season might be almost over. Next week we're gonna have our our own Ryder Cup tournament live while we're watching the the finale of the FedEx Cup and you got some picks and maybe the following week we'll do a recap on sort of how we fit during the all of our picks over the year. 'Cause I we had definitely periods where we did extraordinarily well and periods like last week where our picks kind of didn't do so great. Most of our picks last week, except for
Scott Kitun (54:42)
You know, we had a couple of guys in the twenties. I just got lucky that I smashed the button on on Wyndham on Sunday 'cause I'm a fucking glutton for punishment. But overall I'm
Venmo Joe (54:50)
Ha ha ha
Scott Kitun (54:51)
excited to to do a recap and reconciliation on our year 'cause I feel like we did pretty good.
Venmo Joe (54:56)
We had some we had some outrights, there's no doubt about that, right? We we definitely had some outrights and lotta you're you had that hot streak with the miss and make the cuts that you made us a lot of money on with sniffing
Scott Kitun (55:07)
dude. Thanks Bryson.
Venmo Joe (55:10)
out sniffing out Bryson on the was it US Open and PGA? I think you were dead on both of those.
Scott Kitun (55:15)
Yeah,
Scott Kitun (55:16)
I I had all three of for for his no no cut made. yeah. So that that's what we got in store for us. It's me great. I appreciate everybody listening and it's only gonna get better.
Venmo Joe (55:27)
Scott, for Ryder, I want you sleeping this week. I want you I want you hydrated. okay, well well maybe not
Scott Kitun (55:30)
Going to the sim tonight. Going to the sim tonight. Working on chipping.
Venmo Joe (55:34)
maybe not twenty-four garage beers tonight. Maybe maybe just like ten. Alright, perfect. Yep, make
Scott Kitun (55:38)
No no no. We're just gonna work on some light shipping. Just get the get the tone down. Be ready to go.
Venmo Joe (55:43)
sure you know the extra bounce you got, you're working that out. Alright, buddy. Tia.
Scott Kitun (55:46)
You know it. All right, we'll
Scott Kitun (55:48)
see you.
