Jackson Koivun wins the 3M in just his third career start, dropping a Saturday 62 and holding off a charging Scottie Scheffler while the whole crowd told him he was coming. Scott's back from Charleston with a ruling — the "grown-up New Orleans" is a one-night city — and a report from the National, where Koivun's card market has gone nuclear with one-of-ones hitting $7,500. Cam Young hits 17 greens on Sunday at the Rocket and can't buy a putt, Michael Brennan's psycho scorecard knocks him off the win-bet list, and the guys build the card for the Wyndham. In this episode:
Scott Kitun (00:01)
Welcome to No Strokes. Welcome back. I should say, Joe. We took a week off. took the wife to South Carolina. Can I recap you've been to South Carolina, you told me or to Charleston specifically. Can I do a little recap on this? Is there room for
Venmo Joe (00:14)
Yes, sir. Would love
Venmo Joe (00:16)
wo would love to hear it. As lo as long as
Scott Kitun (00:18)
Okay.
Venmo Joe (00:19)
it doesn't involve you guys hanging out with the th Southern Charm guys, then I'm all ears.
Scott Kitun (00:24)
Yeah. No, none of that. No, none of that. No
Venmo Joe (00:26)
Ha ha.
Scott Kitun (00:27)
time for that. I look, I have a very long history with New Orleans. I fucking love New Orleans. That was my place. That was my Vegas for a long time. They
Venmo Joe (00:37)
yeah.
Scott Kitun (00:37)
say when you get all grown up, you gotta go find like the place that brings you back to that place, but in a more mature, maybe a less degenerate way. And so I had been told many times, Charleston.
Scott Kitun (00:52)
It is the grown-up New Orleans. It is a cleaner, nicer. Okay. And so I I am very excited. I have some preconceived notions, some my wife is aware of, some she's not. And I land and I think, what a beautiful place. And I booked the hotel Bennett. It's got this un unbelievable rooftop pool. Sadly becomes the highlight of the trip.
Venmo Joe (01:13)
Ha ha.
Scott Kitun (01:16)
look, I every place that is shopping-centric.
Scott Kitun (01:20)
It's basically Oak Brook Mall. It's the same fucking stores as I get ads for on Instagram. And I know this is like every major city, but this was particularly upsetting to me because it was like half the trip is like a day of walking on a street where it's just Oak Brook, but 140 fucking degrees. There.
Venmo Joe (01:38)
And more expensive.
Scott Kitun (01:39)
yeah. It costs it costs basically for us, it costs about $1,200 a day to be there if you cook it all in. Maybe a little more than that. And the highlight of this trip.
Scott Kitun (01:50)
With the exception of the the hotel room. The highlight of this trip was the long coffee walks in the morning, rainbow row, water, got to go see Yorktown and all that kind of stuff. Like just very historic homes, all these beautiful, beautiful homes walking in and out. And our rooftop pool, which could have been in any city in America.
Scott Kitun (02:09)
I was so disappointed. I'm not gonna lie. Yeah, so so I don't
Venmo Joe (02:12)
What about the food what about the food though? And like I the food is good there.
Scott Kitun (02:16)
yeah, I don't dislike the food, but I just have to say to the travelers out there, like they only have four things, Joe. New Orleans, it's like Creole, French, fried this, cold, oyster bar. Then they got like boils
Venmo Joe (02:30)
Correct.
Scott Kitun (02:30)
and whatever, like there's etuffet, and there's you know galatoise
Venmo Joe (02:34)
Shambalaya.
Scott Kitun (02:35)
and all this shit, you know, Brennan's steakhouses, it's
Scott Kitun (02:38)
Every corner is beautiful. Charleston is gorgeous. And I wanted to love it. The problem was there's only like four restaurants people go to. There's no reservations. The restaurants house like seven people. You have to walk
Venmo Joe (02:52)
Mm.
Scott Kitun (02:53)
up, put your name in, wait, they'll be like, you'll have a spot in like two hours and forty-five minutes. So at one point we're just like sitting in a fucking lobby somewhere because it's like what else you want to do? We're in between everything. And I and there's no like bars, like they're
Scott Kitun (03:08)
Rooftop bars look like TGI Friday. There's no fucking like Nashville style walk-in music, having whatever. It's just
Venmo Joe (03:13)
Interesting.
Scott Kitun (03:15)
weird dads, couples that just got married that haven't figured shit out yet. Another thing I learned, you can't drink on the street there? The fuck is that?
Venmo Joe (03:25)
Well then yeah, the comparison in New Orleans is was not at all accurate then. 'Cause that's the big thing in New Orleans. Ba very bad.
Scott Kitun (03:30)
Somebody gave me bad intel. Somebody gave me bad
Scott Kitun (03:33)
intel. So I loved I we had a Jed and I had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the pool. Clay with the pool guy was fucking great. That was awesome. It was beautiful. The walks were incredible. If you're a person who likes to like map and plan and move around.
Scott Kitun (03:48)
One net. So yeah, next
Venmo Joe (03:51)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (03:51)
time we're we're gonna go straight to Hilton Head Placement Golf is what I would do. That's what I would
Venmo Joe (03:55)
Yeah, we we only went there I know yeah, food's
Scott Kitun (03:58)
Food was good, just there's like four things.
Venmo Joe (04:00)
good. We didn't party there. That was like we we stopped there before we went to Palmetto Bluff, which is a a great spot in South Carolina that's got a Jack Nicholas course there. But yeah, we just went I think we went for a night, you know, I had a Lydia was like one and a half two at that time. I don't remember much about it. I know that there's lots of bachelorette parties that go there. so I just figured there
Scott Kitun (04:22)
Yes, I was so confused which
Venmo Joe (04:24)
was like a
Venmo Joe (04:25)
a bigger party scene there.
Scott Kitun (04:27)
I said to Jen, if you ever want to have a redux on your bachelorette party, this place is totally fine by me. You are welcome to come here. And
Venmo Joe (04:35)
Ha ha ha ha.
Scott Kitun (04:37)
if you can find trouble, let me know where and I'll come join ya. I
Venmo Joe (04:40)
Ha ha ha.
Scott Kitun (04:41)
think I learned just I the one, you hit on the head, you were there for like a night. I think it's a one I think we we thought it was a coupled night city. It's not, it's a one night city. And I learned a lot about myself, and Jen so eloquently pointed out to me that I'm a fucking child.
Scott Kitun (04:57)
And that pretty much I still need the same level of degener like I didn't mature. There's no new New Orleans upgrade. It's just
Venmo Joe (05:05)
So so you
Venmo Joe (05:06)
you you wearing one of your random basketball jerseys was not well received, in in Charleston?
Scott Kitun (05:12)
No, no, she loved that. She wanted to be giving
Scott Kitun (05:14)
me shit. I did not wear it on the street because it is definitely upclass. On the pool deck, I did, and she was giving me shit in the elevator until the very first person who came off was like this really nice, well-to-do looking couple, and the guy goes, Fletch jersey, incredible. And just got in the elevator and she's like,
Venmo Joe (05:28)
you love the Fletch jersey. You love the Fletch jersey.
Scott Kitun (05:32)
it's my go-to. But anyway, kicking things off. It was it was beautiful. I we had the trip. That was why we didn't do the show.
Venmo Joe (05:37)
we missed ya, man. We missed ya.
Scott Kitun (05:40)
Did I miss anything? Was there like a n a new young stud that came on the scene and and made the news
Venmo Joe (05:44)
May, maybe, maybe.
Scott Kitun (05:46)
rounds?
Venmo Joe (05:47)
Jackson Coivin, man, yeah, that was that was a lot of fun. He has lived up to the hype. I think that was his what third pro start? And to to win Yeah. Well I th I
Scott Kitun (05:57)
Third pro start. Yeah, he's got a miscaught at fifteen, ten and a win or something like that. Twenty and win.
Venmo Joe (06:02)
I think ri I remember us talking about him going into John Deere because we were both like kind of like how is Coyvan like twenty to one and Blades Brown is like ninety to one.
Venmo Joe (06:12)
That doesn't make a whole lot of sense because Blades Brown is
Scott Kitun (06:13)
Right. No, it does.
Venmo Joe (06:15)
has got the experience. But, you know, they were the the book the
Scott Kitun (06:18)
Now it now makes a lot more sense.
Venmo Joe (06:20)
bookmakers were right. They were just on the wrong they were on the wrong tournament. And you know, he went nuclear. Coivan went nuc nuclear on Saturday. That back nine he had on Saturday to create separation was absolutely ridiculous. Like two Eagles. I think he shot like a twenty eight on that back nine, which was nuts.
Scott Kitun (06:39)
Yeah. Sixty
Scott Kitun (06:41)
two total, right?
Venmo Joe (06:42)
And that was that was af yeah, sixty two total, and that was after Scotty, you know, played really well on Saturday and you know, Coivin needed needed that cushion going into Sunday. And, you know, I thought he played he played like a veteran on Sunday, right? Like didn't d stress free like final round. you know, I think he ended up shooting sixty six or sixty seven. Like the only hole he struggled
Scott Kitun (07:07)
Three under.
Venmo Joe (07:08)
on was eighteen where he almost whiffed on the on the T shot.
Scott Kitun (07:12)
Yeah, he laughed. I mean
Venmo Joe (07:12)
Like he
Scott Kitun (07:13)
yeah. Can we talk about that a little bit? Like his
Venmo Joe (07:16)
He hit his he hit his drive
Venmo Joe (07:19)
two hundred I think he hit his drive two hundred and fifty yards on that long par five on eighteen. It was like he was like too far back to
Scott Kitun (07:23)
I don't think it was that long. I didn't think it was two fifty.
Venmo Joe (07:26)
even like lay up. Like it was
Scott Kitun (07:28)
Yeah.
Venmo Joe (07:28)
it was insane. But you know, he's still he then what did he do? He went and made a fifteen footer for par and one by three. So that was fun.
Scott Kitun (07:36)
I I thought that that Sunday was I mean it was what he did on the day before was very impressive. What he did on on Sunday to me was one of the most impressive things I've seen all season, maybe in the last couple seasons. We talked about this with a couple of players. You know, tell me what's going on when you see Scotty Scheffler coming up, like actually behind you in a winning position. And and we've seen guys fold. And these are guys folding when he's like four, five, six strokes away.
Scott Kitun (08:06)
This was
Venmo Joe (08:06)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (08:06)
like he came out. The only person who's coming for him is Scotty Sche. Yeah, there were other guys, but it was irrelevant. It was Scotty Scheffler and you. And this is the best golfer in the world who's also trying to, like, he's not here to screw around. He's trying to get a win here. He needs another win, ideally. So he cares. You can see Scotty's committed. And this dude just goes
Venmo Joe (08:26)
he gave a shit.
Scott Kitun (08:27)
out and shoots 33, you know, or sorry, three under. Like it ain't shit. And he
Scott Kitun (08:33)
I mean he did everything he didn't even there was no room. I'm no I I did not feel at any point like he was going to to lose that. At any point in that round. Not once did I feel like he was not gonna win that that tournament. Which I've he's twenty one years old
Venmo Joe (08:43)
Yeah, which is impressive. I mean,
Scott Kitun (08:46)
or whatever, twenty two.
Venmo Joe (08:47)
the only I I wish he was in the group with Scotty, 'cause that would have been like obviously a different layer of of mental warfare that that Scotty could have potentially
Scott Kitun (08:52)
That would have been the best, yes. That would have been incredible.
Venmo Joe (08:57)
deployed and you know, y who knows at that point. But like I mean, Coyvon even said in the press conferences afterwards, like, you know, the crowd was telling him Scotty's coming, Scotty's coming, right? So
Scott Kitun (09:08)
Yeah.
Venmo Joe (09:08)
like he was having to hear that. He was having to you know.
Venmo Joe (09:13)
handle all of the pressure and process all of the emotions that that I would assume goes with leading a professional golf tournament at the age of twenty one. And, you know, kudos to him, man. I think the I it it's really exciting that we've got, you know, 'cause we'll it'll be a good transition into the rocket, right? But you got two guys, two Americans, two young Americans in Coivan and Thor. I think like they're I am hoping they're gonna breathe some
Venmo Joe (09:42)
some life into the US team because and I I think that we should we should be treating the President's Cup as a complete fucking like feeder system for the Ryder Cup. And both of those guys
Scott Kitun (09:52)
Yeah. t a thousand percent, yeah.
Venmo Joe (09:54)
should be on the President's Cup. I have seen enough of Patrick Cantley. I don't think we need to do the JJ Spawn and Ben Griffin experiment again. Like you now have these two 20, you know, early 20
Venmo Joe (10:09)
Americans that have won back to back weeks on the PGA tour that have got like all the talent in the world. Like, I don't even care if they go and like, you know, fall face first at the president's cup, 'cause to me, you're gonna win the president's cup, right? You're gonna do that no matter who those last
Scott Kitun (10:23)
Yeah, hopefully. Yeah.
Venmo Joe (10:25)
two guys on the team are gonna be. I'd
Scott Kitun (10:28)
Do you think that this year? I don't wanna
Scott Kitun (10:29)
jump into this at the President's Cup preamble. Hopefully you're there at the President's Cup on Saturday with me. That'll be nice. But I'm not totally sure about that.
Venmo Joe (10:36)
I'm still waiting for that invite from
Venmo Joe (10:38)
my host. I mean dude, what the what have you seen from the what have you seen from the international team that that that has you worried?
Scott Kitun (10:47)
I don't know, tons of cigarettes?
Venmo Joe (10:50)
Yeah, I mean not Siwoo. You you know, as soon as as soon as soon as si is as soon as as soon as Siwoo is
Scott Kitun (10:52)
Yeah, I mean Matsuyama's a real player. Si Woo d Min Woo Lee has been really good
Scott Kitun (10:59)
this year.
Scott Kitun (10:59)
Does Tom Kim count?
Venmo Joe (10:59)
Listen, I hope it
Venmo Joe (11:01)
I yeah, Tom Kim is on that. Tom Kim's on the international team.
Scott Kitun (11:03)
Right. So like these are guys who are
Scott Kitun (11:05)
coming on the up. Who are your Americans, not young guns that you feel really good about? Scotty Scheffler's is your main guy. Cam Young.
Venmo Joe (11:11)
Hmm. So well you got s
Venmo Joe (11:12)
you I mean you still got Scotty and Cam, right? Those are those are gonna be the two guys that are carry it. I'm just going off of I think the international team has won once since the President's Cup started. No, I like in theory I d I think we're
Scott Kitun (11:22)
Yeah, no, I don't I don't mean like historic. I mean like I just I look at the this team and I think we've got two or three guys who are proven
Scott Kitun (11:30)
and then it's a little bit like I don't know. You could go you could sh shock me.
Venmo Joe (11:32)
All I'm saying, all I'm saying is
Venmo Joe (11:35)
I I would be I would take more risk with the team composition in the President's Cup than obviously
Scott Kitun (11:41)
Yes.
Venmo Joe (11:42)
you would ever take in the Ryder Cup because the Ryder
Scott Kitun (11:44)
Yes.
Venmo Joe (11:44)
Cup is what everyone cares about. The President's Cup is is you know it's entertaining. It's definitely gonna be entertaining for us because it's in our backyard at Medina. Like I'm personally excited about it, but when you look at like the the landscape of of
Venmo Joe (11:59)
golf and like what people care about. People care about the Ryder Cup, right? They care about the majors and they care about the Rider Cup. So if I'm trying to figure out who my best 12 is for the Ryder Cup away next year, I'm using the president's cup as like that litmus test as far as like, okay, who do we want? Like we already saw like how kind of that bottom half of the team played at Beth Page, right? Like let's let's figure out if if we can get some different
Venmo Joe (12:28)
energy, some new blood in there that will benefit us going into the Ryder Cup versus just running it back with like the same stale 12 guys, right? Like, I think there's an opportunity to to put both Thor and Coivin there. And that doesn't guarantee their spot at the Ryder Cup, obviously. There's a lot of golf that needs to happen between now and and September of twenty seven.
Scott Kitun (12:53)
It's a perfect tryout for the pressure though.
Venmo Joe (12:54)
But I'd rather I'd rather
Venmo Joe (12:55)
see, yeah, it's a perfect tryout and it's gonna be on US soil, right? Like so they're gonna be be comfortable. And then you get all those jitters out in in team competition at the President's Cup versus bringing rookies that haven't played in either the rider or president's cup next year. So I don't know. food for thought. I've seen a lot of debate on it. on on Axe, the everything app, everything happens on Axe.
Scott Kitun (13:22)
Now payments too. I've got payments on X now too.
Venmo Joe (13:22)
so I'm interested in it, right? Yeah, not payments do.
Venmo Joe (13:27)
so it's good, it's good storylines going into that, right? Like I think having not having the same winners week in and week out, like we've talked about on this show the last couple of months, I think has really benefited the product. And like I dude, I think going into the playoffs next week, it's like wide open, right? Like in we've cut the fat in the playoffs, right? It's not
Venmo Joe (13:49)
125
Scott Kitun (13:49)
Yep, seventy.
Venmo Joe (13:50)
guys now it's 70 guys. I think we're in for for a great three weeks. And you know, I I think you're you don't really have a clue of who's who's gonna win, which is a lot different spot than we've been in the last couple of years. And you know, I think there could be more surprises in the next couple of weeks.
Scott Kitun (14:10)
Tommy Fleetwood.
Venmo Joe (14:12)
No, no.
Scott Kitun (14:13)
just kidding. I can't fucking wait for the FedEx playoffs. And that's the first time I've said that in the entirety of the FedEx playoffs. So I that just goes to tell you like how this season's tournaments have played out where it feels like every tournament, there's like a, ooh shit, I get to meet another guy, get to see another type of person play.
Venmo Joe (14:28)
Exactly, exactly.
Scott Kitun (14:30)
I, you know, I'm I'm sure I'm not the first person to say this, but like presidents and rider cup, I have always thought, with the exception of your absolute stars.
Scott Kitun (14:38)
It should be a young man's game because a lot of these guys, the most recent golf they had prior to playing on tour was actually playing in team sport and playing in match play tournaments and things that like frankly if you take years off from playing in that style, it it's really hard to wire a a net low score mentality over four days to like every day's different. and I actually really benefits younger guys like Coyvon, who've just recently, you know, did what he did at Auburn. And I think in general.
Scott Kitun (15:09)
as a transition here to the to the rocket. We have so many young guys. Michael Brennan's another one. Goddard up is older now, but a younger one before winning. We've got, you know, the pot guard
Venmo Joe (15:18)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (15:19)
dude hitting balls fucking 400 yards. We've got Blades Brown almost won on Corn Ferry. That dude is, I can already tell you now, he's he's Aaron Rise without the gloves. Like he's a grinder. He will play at every tournament that he has to play to every single week to get reps and to be wherever he needs to
Venmo Joe (15:33)
Yeah, he's electric.
Scott Kitun (15:35)
be. I really, really appreciate the way he plays.
Scott Kitun (15:38)
There are, you know, Thor Bjornsen is an example, but there are so many unreal young talent that when I look at like just in the last three weeks, like the level of talent, the attention on these players is bringing eyeballs to the game. One thing I noticed that I had not seen in and I do not think that by the way, I I love Jackson Quitman. I think that he his swing, time will tell
Scott Kitun (16:08)
on there's a lot of Jordan Speatie things that go on with that kid and putting is incredible. I've never seen him with a pair of nuts like that.
Venmo Joe (16:16)
Well i i
Venmo Joe (16:17)
a a lot of a lot of torque on that swing kind of reminds me of Zalotoris a little bit, like does
Scott Kitun (16:22)
Yeah. Yep.
Venmo Joe (16:24)
that is that hold up from a from a health standpoint? Exactly. Exactly.
Scott Kitun (16:26)
And he needs it because he's not a big guy. We talked about this. Like he's not a big guy.
Scott Kitun (16:31)
But neither is Rory. And Rory's figured out. So I'm not, you know, in general, I'm not super like I am very excited about it. I just want to say I've not seen other people be excited about it, like since Tiger. I went to national, the card show, and I shit you
Venmo Joe (16:46)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (16:46)
not. There were no golf cards as usual. I'm a big golf card person. I have an Anthony Kim one on one sign waiting for him to come back and win.
Scott Kitun (16:55)
Major, so I can sell that fucker on eBay for a bazillion dollars. Shout out to Anthony Kim, aka 47.
Venmo Joe (17:00)
Still still want you on the show, Anthony. Come on, man.
Scott Kitun (17:03)
hey, I he we I showed him the card just the other day, DM'd. He's he's he's still active. We we love this. I love the story. Regardless, the only two cards that were in existence were Tiger Woods cards and Jackson Coyvon cards. And I went and looked for comps on eBay. And prior to the win, the comps first sale $50, $75.
Scott Kitun (17:24)
$80, 10 one of 10s were around 125, one of one of ones were like a thousand. His basic, not even one of a hundreds, were selling for two, three hundred dollars. His one
Venmo Joe (17:36)
Hm.
Scott Kitun (17:37)
of a hundreds were a thousand, his one of tens were twenty five hundred, and his one of one series cards. I shit you not, I saw one for $7,500. This kid won one fucking tournament. It was insane. There were kids walking around asking about where's the golf
Venmo Joe (17:50)
Wow.
Scott Kitun (17:51)
like area.
Scott Kitun (17:53)
All Jackson coivined up. Kids. I have not seen
Venmo Joe (17:57)
I look I love that.
Scott Kitun (17:58)
kids. We that was like me and you. 97. Tiger Woods comes on the scene and we're like, dude, there's
Venmo Joe (18:03)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (18:03)
a young dude coming out kicking ass. And the and I would go to the golf show and I would be like, where's all the tiger stuff? Like that this is the same thing. I don't he's not tiger. It's definitely impressive. He's won a lot of awards. They make too much to do about his his his history. It's not as crazy as you you know like you to believe it.
Scott Kitun (18:22)
But he's he's real. And that dude had Hutzpah. He came out there, put them balls on the green, and just fucking took it down. And I'm excited to see what
Venmo Joe (18:31)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (18:31)
he does. He was overhyped to the rocket. We didn't bet on him. At least I did not. I put a little in just on like literally on a flyer because, like, why not? Who knows? But I didn't I didn't bet on anything.
Venmo Joe (18:41)
yeah, no d you can't bet him back to back.
Scott Kitun (18:46)
It was too, too rich. And then he still ended up playing really well. He had a couple.
Scott Kitun (18:51)
One good round got him back in it. I know, he finished like 34 or whatever it was. I thought in general, pretty good. Pretty good round.
Venmo Joe (18:57)
Yeah. Not not surprising that
Venmo Joe (18:59)
he didn't contend, but yeah, he's got he's got so much talent that, you know, even on a week where he's not clicking on all cylinders and you know, I'm sure if he was if that was PGA tour win number like five and you know, he was in year three or four, he wouldn't have played the the Rocket after winning the three But like, you know, he's young, he's trying to get reps.
Scott Kitun (19:22)
Keep it hot.
Venmo Joe (19:23)
yeah, keep it hot, right? And like
Venmo Joe (19:24)
Yeah, he's he's gonna be one of the guys that you gotta look for. I think he's right there. He's right there. I mean, I think he was like s I
Scott Kitun (19:26)
Well that win got him into the he's currently in the FedEx, right? He is now for sure. He is now for sure, but I thought the wind got him to seventy.
Venmo Joe (19:34)
think he was at 70 after the three which is crazy because he's only played three events and one of them was a miscaught, right? So he needed that win at at 3M and he's probably gonna gonna have to have a a decent showing at at Wyndham, but like he should be safely in. I I don't track enough of like those
Scott Kitun (19:53)
He's a top twenty in Windham for
Scott Kitun (19:54)
me.
Venmo Joe (19:55)
those points, right? Like I I I I know that one thing I was reading about the Wyndham, which is nice, because of the change with the pla this is always I think this has been the the last event for years and years, right before the playoffs. usually you weren't getting the best of fields because everyone that was into the playoffs just skipped going to North
Scott Kitun (20:16)
Right.
Venmo Joe (20:16)
Carolina and they were preparing for for the St. Jude in Memphis, but
Venmo Joe (20:21)
Because it's now 70 guides instead of 125, like the field that we have for
Scott Kitun (20:25)
Mm-hmm.
Venmo Joe (20:27)
Wyndham is pretty loaded, right? I mean, you got Cam Young, who's the defending champ. That was his, it's hard to believe that was his first win last year, right?
Scott Kitun (20:35)
Right.
Venmo Joe (20:35)
So at this at this time last year, the guy that we have been kind of hyping up this year on no strokes still had had yet to have had a win. So he's the defending champ. He's back, Ben Griffin's there, Aaron Rye's there.
Venmo Joe (20:49)
Justin Thomas is playing. And then, you know, you've got you've got some of the the younger dudes that have been playing really well. I I did see that Thor withdrew. I think Cantley
Scott Kitun (20:59)
The Or withdrew. He won.
Venmo Joe (21:01)
withdrew. Like, fuck, Patrick Cantley. Good guy. The fact that people are still betting on like Cantley
Scott Kitun (21:08)
Mm-hmm.
Venmo Joe (21:08)
started off good at the Rocket. and like I the fact people continue to jump, the guy is not one in three and a half years. Like he like, there is something.
Venmo Joe (21:18)
not right with Cantley and because we've got some favorable memories of him at at the Ryder Cup that people just seem to ignore the fact that he's not like you should never be putting your hard earned dollars on that guy to win a golf tournament. If you want to put him at top 20 or make a cut, sure, great. Not gonna fight you on that. But yeah, but but but Scott, he's still going into tournaments at
Scott Kitun (21:36)
Yeah, he's a good he's a good stays up up top. He's a great pre weekend bet. He's my Thursday Friday guy.
Venmo Joe (21:43)
he's still going into some tournaments that aren't like the signature events at a at 20 to one.
Venmo Joe (21:48)
And people are betting that. It's insane to me. but anyway he withdrew so you
Scott Kitun (21:53)
You wait, you bet the yes
Scott Kitun (21:55)
on him? I bet the no. I like that he's high, and I bet the no. It's a 70% chance he's gonna lose.
Venmo Joe (22:00)
Yeah, well with your contracts, yeah, you
Venmo Joe (22:02)
can short him. But you know, I just I just stay away from him. But anyway, i I mean it's a good and then you've got I know you you wanted to talk Hadeki because Hadeki is someone that that seems to be the most tipped golfer going into Windham, playing really well. But it's it's a really it's a really
Scott Kitun (22:18)
But we know what to do there.
Venmo Joe (22:20)
good field. It's a really good field.
Scott Kitun (22:22)
You just said the magic word for our golf manifesto, which we'll write at the end of the season here. East you're the most tipped player. Do we put money on him? Yes or no? No. So he's out.
Venmo Joe (22:31)
No. But let's hope
Venmo Joe (22:33)
he's okay. Well maybe we don't know if he's more I'm just saying I'm he's trending to that. I've seen Ben Griffin getting a lot of love, who I personally don't like in this tournament. So he might be the most tipped. I was
Scott Kitun (22:47)
Ryan Gerard would be
Scott Kitun (22:48)
my my non Ben Griffin pick.
Venmo Joe (22:51)
As most tipped.
Scott Kitun (22:53)
No, just like if I I I agree with you. For some reason, like Ben Griffin, I just I'm not. I see a guy who's a little bit confused when he's out there with himself. He just he looks like he's got so much game going on, and then all of sudden he doesn't. And like he he just has that not quite he I don't maybe he just needs a win, but like he's just not quite locked in. Yeah. And Ryan Gerard,
Venmo Joe (23:12)
He's not what he was last year. He hasn't yeah, he hasn't found it. He hasn't found it yet.
Scott Kitun (23:16)
on the other hand, looks like he just wakes up, rubs his eyeballs, and he decides like.
Scott Kitun (23:21)
If I shoot really well today, then I'm in the tournament. If I don't, then you know I'm go drink some beers or whatever. Like I kind of like Ryan Jardin this. I think the pick that I have for locks that I'm looking at, who was also my pick last week and I'm riding is Davis Thompson. I love him for a top twenty. I got him on a top twenty last
Venmo Joe (23:37)
Mm.
Scott Kitun (23:38)
week. another one.
Venmo Joe (23:41)
I like I like that
Venmo Joe (23:42)
and like in the research that I was doing for the Wyndham one of the comp courses on this, which I agreed to, and we can we can kind of get into the to the course makeup here in a little bit. But one of the comps is TPC Deer Run, which Davis Thompson
Scott Kitun (23:57)
Yes.
Venmo Joe (23:58)
ran away with two years ago, right? So I I like that call a lot. I mean he's got there's value there. He's ten to one at top five, five to one top ten.
Venmo Joe (24:09)
Almost sixty to one to win. That's a great call.
Scott Kitun (24:12)
I you know, well since we're on it, you know, the other Sanjay M's another one that like this this has like
Venmo Joe (24:19)
Yeah, he's been kinda
Venmo Joe (24:20)
popping he's been kind of popping up this year.
Scott Kitun (24:22)
He's he's been good. And then not, you know, he's been like he's playing like you would expect him to play. Like he's not a star. Like he's a really strong player who's streaky. And I feel like this is a course where he it it matches all the things that he does, I think, generally quite well. I think you you've seen Doug Gim continue to ride around kind of low, and he's like in the mix, not gonna in the mix to win it, but he's like in that, you know, top top tier, make the cut for sure. So like I love
Scott Kitun (24:52)
You know, a Doug Gim, a Harris English, make the cut, Tom Hogue, make the cut kind of bet. Top fives. You know, Cam Young is just. I want to talk, I guess I want to go backwards for a second and talk about Cam Young. We didn't really talk about this.
Venmo Joe (25:04)
Yeah, we can go back. Yep. Yeah.
Scott Kitun (25:07)
At the Rocket, I was enjoying everything about Michael Theor Burnson. And you and I've talked about him a bunch. Like he we we tried to pronounce his name on like the third week of the show. We were trying to figure out how to pronounce his name. Right. So you
Venmo Joe (25:15)
I love Thor. That's why that's why I just keep going Thor. You've you've you've got
Venmo Joe (25:20)
it down now. You've got it down. I'm I'm just sticking to Thor. I like Thor.
Scott Kitun (25:22)
You you told me you were tell you're th
Scott Kitun (25:26)
Thor Thor is your guy. And so I put him down s Sunday morning before they teed off. I put him down as my winner pick. It worked out for me. I didn't put a ton
Venmo Joe (25:34)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (25:34)
of money down on it, but it was my my winner pick. The most money I had on anyone was from day pre pre-turnal was Cam Young to win it all. And I didn't
Venmo Joe (25:42)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (25:43)
waver. In fact, I added another fifty dollars Saturday night coming into Sunday with all things being, you know, what they were.
Scott Kitun (25:50)
And I watched him until he was on the 12th hole and didn't give up hope on that. Because I I was watching
Venmo Joe (25:54)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (25:55)
a guy who he wasn't terrible. He just couldn't make a couple he be he hits like 17 greens in reg on Sunday. And he just every one either missed a putt, but we didn't talk this wasn't
Venmo Joe (26:04)
Spotting man.
Scott Kitun (26:05)
yips and blowing it. This was just not making them. He
Venmo Joe (26:08)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (26:09)
had to like he never had approaches that like everyone else is like twelve, fifteen feet and he's twenty-two. And it just was
Venmo Joe (26:16)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (26:16)
all day. And it was like this field until 16.
Scott Kitun (26:21)
was basically negative 15, two guys, negative 16, negative 15, negative 14, negative 13, 12 guys. And he was right there. And at any time I was like, if he just makes a birdie like like like Davis Riley David like Davis Riley did where he kind of came back with Birdie Birdie. If he does like a thir twelve hole, twelve, thirteen, thirteen, fourteen birdie birdie, and he's at negative fourteen and those other guys are at 15 with three holes left. They look at the scoreboard on 16 and they see Cam Young behind him, I'd still ride Cam Young as my pick.
Scott Kitun (26:51)
Nothing I would like to see him playing more like ridiculous hero Mickey Mantle Cam Young in the beginning of the season. But I feel like he has battled through whatever the fuck the Yips thing was.
Venmo Joe (27:05)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (27:06)
He's now back in it. I think he is he will be a strong contender for me in the FedEx Cup, no surprise. But like not like that's a risky pick. But he he's getting into form and I see him here as the repeat repeat champ, defending champ, very close to winning.
Scott Kitun (27:22)
Feel he he just needs one win to like be like, all right, I'm I'm I'm back to you know, know how to do this again. And so th that was my my pick coming into the rocket was that. He was almost there, he wasn't there. Now I look at this tournament, it's like he's a lock top five to me. And I probably sprinkle on him winning it.
Venmo Joe (27:37)
Yeah, I mean there's
Venmo Joe (27:39)
just not there's just not a whole lot of value. I mean, I don't disagree with you. I think it the Rocket was a very weird tournament for him 'cause he came in as the as the heavy favorite. I mean, he was kinda stuck in neutral in round one. I think he finished one under and then he goes nuclear on Friday and you're
Scott Kitun (27:54)
Yep. Sixty one.
Venmo Joe (27:55)
like, Okay, there he goes. Like he was tied for first and you're like, All right, now he's got thirty six holes. He's already he's already captured the lead after being
Venmo Joe (28:04)
behind the eight ball after the first eighteen, like this guy is going to kind of like easily win the Rocket. It's kind of what I thought going into the weekend.
Scott Kitun (28:13)
Yeah.
Venmo Joe (28:13)
I'm like, all right, he's there. he'll he'll probably win pretty comfortably. And he just he so he had he had three rounds that
Scott Kitun (28:18)
Sixty six, sixty six and win it. Sixty eight.
Venmo Joe (28:22)
were kind of, you know, close to to even par, right? Like sixty nine, sixty nine, sixty eight. Yeah.
Scott Kitun (28:26)
Yeah. He shot sixty nine, sixty eight, six sixty
Scott Kitun (28:31)
no, he gave up a bogey on eighteen. Sixty one, but he was sixty nine, sixty one, sixty eight, and then seventy.
Venmo Joe (28:31)
Well he shot the sixty one, right? He he shot I think he was even on Sunday. Yeah. So he was so he had so
Venmo Joe (28:38)
he had three rounds that were at or just below par and then one round that was great. So it just I don't know. I I think I'm with you. I don't I don't whatever issues were there where he was like just kind of not contending for a period of time seems to be over. He very well could repeat here. I'm not gonna bet on it. I think him at eight to one is ludicrous with the
Scott Kitun (28:59)
Yeah, it's too high.
Venmo Joe (29:02)
with the strength of this field, there's just too many guys, man. I mean, you already you already named a couple of them. But I mean, you got Hadeki, you got Gerrard there, you've got Tom Kim, you've got Michael Brennan. I a little aside on Michael Brennan. So I was on him at the three right? So three he he plays great on Thursday, plays great on Saturday. He's a couple shots back at Coyvon going into Sunday. Like three shots back, right? But he was like, I think he was in
Venmo Joe (29:31)
Solo third, completely implodes on Sunday at the 3M. So then I'm like, all right, whatever. He was there. Obviously, good things are are coming. bet him, I just go, I'm, you know, I'm gonna ride him again, trying to learn my lessons from from earlier this year and not getting off of guys when I like them. So I'm like, all right, I'm gonna go right back to him at the rocket. I have a very sizable cash out that I turn down.
Venmo Joe (29:58)
On Sunday because he's leading or he's one back, but he's one back of Davis Riley, who I want to say was 800 to one to win before the tournament started, right? So I'm like, I'm not worried about Davis Riley. what does Brennan do? He, you know, Davis Riley makes a 50-footer on hole one, Brennan makes a 37-footer, then he birdies three. I'm like, this thing's fucking over, right? I mean, the guy just doubles holes out of fucking nowhere. And like the the benefit of like when you
Venmo Joe (30:27)
The value of betting Brennan is supposed to be he is a top three driver of the golf ball, and he just couldn't keep the fucking golf ball in the fairway. And that's when he gets in trouble. And like what I will commend Detroit Country Club on, dude, that rough was punitive, right? So if you got in that
Scott Kitun (30:44)
Yeah, it was tough.
Venmo Joe (30:45)
rough, it was it was tough, right? So, you know, he had a couple doubles yesterday, and just like I I'm very close to putting him on my don't bet list, like.
Venmo Joe (30:55)
I I think he's definitely off of the the win bet list and I think he's gotta move to like top ten, top twenty status. He has a he's kinda like our boy Ludwig. He just seems to have a problem on Sundays. I don't know what it is, but like this is now two Sundays in a row where like he was like squarely in contention, more so this weekend because he was, you know, he was the betting favorite going into Sunday. and
Venmo Joe (31:22)
He finished tied for 15. Like you can't do you get an opportunity like that where it's really your golf tournament to win or lose and you just continue to to figure out ways to lose instead of win. it's frustrating. Like I like his game, but he's he's got some speech in him, right? Where it's just the scorecard, if you look at his scorecard round around, it's
Scott Kitun (31:43)
Yeah, it looks crazy.
Venmo Joe (31:44)
it's it's way too crazy. It's kind of the psycho scorecard, right? Where we'll have a bunch of birdies in a row and then it'll have a double.
Venmo Joe (31:51)
Or two doubles. And it's just like you can't, you cannot win golf tournaments doubling holes. It's just you've got to be able to mitigate disasters where like the most that you're giving up on a hole is one shot. And if you're having multiple holes when you're trying to close a golf tournament that you're giving up two shots to the field, you're you're gonna end up losing the lead and finishing more towards the middle of the pack. And that's exactly what happened with Brennan.
Scott Kitun (32:17)
I mean, we've said this before, winning on a golf tour is hard. And that's why you look at like a lot of these guys are young guys that are kind of learning their game on tour. They didn't have competition coming from every single angle in the college game. It wasn't nearly as hard. They're the best of the best. They get on cornfair, they're the best of the best. They get out here and it's like, dude, any given day, people it seems like every day we're seeing a sixty one come through. That seems to be the last like four weeks is every day. It's
Venmo Joe (32:40)
Yeah, it's been I mean, it's been a while. Yeah,
Venmo Joe (32:42)
we didn't even we kinda glossed over the fact that Michael Kim at three shot a fucking fifty nine. Right? Like
Scott Kitun (32:46)
Yeah. Yeah. And he was in contention
Scott Kitun (32:49)
again at the rocket for a minute. He didn't he didn't, you know, turn the corner on it, but he
Venmo Joe (32:52)
He he's another guy he
Venmo Joe (32:54)
he's another guy I would look at this weekend because he's another guy like Davis Thompson that is that is one at at the John Deere at the T P C Deer run. So that's another that's another guy that that I like coming into this. And I think he's I mean he's seventy to one.
Scott Kitun (33:10)
Yeah, good odds. I mean, these are all guys that I would wrap up in top tens and then pick a couple to win just so you you don't lose if they don't quite win.
Venmo Joe (33:16)
Yeah, you always gotta you g always
Venmo Joe (33:18)
gotta s yeah, you gotta protect yourself, but you always wanna you always wanna have like a a fun potential Sunday sweat outright ticket.
Scott Kitun (33:25)
Yeah. in general, I just like I feel like we've got a lot of young guys that are still learning how to win. They still make some of the dumb young mistakes that that guys make. And I think we also forget like the the breed of person who can come out and and win a bunch of them and like become expected to win is a different breed. That's a wild animal out there. Forever and ever and ever, for the history of of you know, modern golf, we've only had like, I don't know, twelve.
Scott Kitun (33:56)
guys who you're like for their period of time in their career, it's like, yeah, that dude would go out, he's gonna win. Pretty much he's gonna win unless somebody you gets lucky. And that's a Nicholas Palmer. You go before that even and you go into like the, you know, Greg Norman sorta until he had his things and obviously Tiger Woods and Scotty Scheffle this last year. Generally speaking, if you were to just like historically look back, like I don't maybe can think of one season where I felt like Rory was that, but actually I never really thought of tournaments like when Rory shows up, he's definitely gonna win. Like
Venmo Joe (34:23)
Mm-hmm.
Scott Kitun (34:24)
It's it's really fucking hard. Really hard. So like I look at somebody this year and
Venmo Joe (34:28)
Thousand percent.
Scott Kitun (34:29)
I feel like we just don't, you know, I almost feel like more that we just the level of talent is very high right now.
Venmo Joe (34:32)
Well it's really it's it's really I was
Venmo Joe (34:36)
gonna I was gonna say I think that's the biggest thing is that the the the composition of the fields are just are really fucking good. Right? Like really, really good. where it's hard even for a Scotty or a Cam Young or a Rory to really gain separation week in and week out. You're not seeing it, like you're seeing Scotty being able to get up to the top of the leaderboard, but like
Venmo Joe (34:59)
Any given week there's a guy that's just a little bit seems to get a little bit hotter, right? A little bit hotter with the flat stick or, you know, his approach shot he's gaining shots on approach and you know, his proximities i inside Scotties. It's just been really been really fun to watch.
Scott Kitun (35:15)
I'm never gonna talk against the legend of Tiger Woods, but other than two times a with Jim Furick, I don't remember him ever playing in tournaments where he's up like six or seven or two and somebody fires a fifty-nine, sixty, sixty-one, sixty-two. That
Venmo Joe (35:27)
No, didn't happen.
Scott Kitun (35:29)
shit didn't happen. You'd say, it was Tiger effect. It wasn't. These is like there just wasn't a hundred and fifty guys who played professional golf who could shoot in this in the fifties. And now we have apparently, I mean, Michael Kim is a good golfer, don't me wrong, but like
Scott Kitun (35:44)
You're not thinking of him in legendary status. That's a guy who can go out and shoot fifty. We have so many birdie machines out there that it's just I think
Venmo Joe (35:50)
Yeah.
Scott Kitun (35:51)
the margin for error now is much thinner. So whether you're the very best in Scotty Shuffler or a Cam or Rory, or you're a young gun who just makes a little mistakes, like the the air margin's zero. And and that's why you see guys like Aaron Rise win major titles. It's crazy. speaking with this, I
Venmo Joe (36:06)
No, thousand percent.
Scott Kitun (36:07)
wanna hand it back to you here. Let's recap our course coming up here, what what to expect, what you like and
Scott Kitun (36:12)
what you're looking for and we'll we'll roll our way out.
Venmo Joe (36:15)
Yeah, so Sedgefield, little bit of a shorter course, right? just under seventy two hundred yards, par seventy, which we've seen at at at the last couple of tournaments. So it's only two par fives, but they're both gettable. some short par threes and some shorter par fours, right? So the things that you're gonna be looking at, like key stats to consider, fairways gain.
Venmo Joe (36:41)
proximity in that hundred to hundred and seventy five yard range because they are shorter par fours, you've got more approach shots happening in that range versus like the 175 to to 200 yards. So look at guys that that get dialed in there, and then it's always going to be putting, right? So they're going back to Bermuda. So it's going to be fast greens, narrow fairways, but because it's not as long, I think you can
Venmo Joe (37:08)
Like I was I was reading with Cam Young last year. Like he he didn't even have driver on a lot of the holes, right? Like he was taking fairway wood or or irons, right? So I think you can you can be a little bit less aggressive off the T's. and it's it's really a course where if people have had success, it's gonna be it's gonna be repetitive. Like there this is definitely like a you're a coarse horse here.
Venmo Joe (37:33)
So you've got some guys that we've already mentioned that have had multiple top 15 finishes over the last 15 years. Sanjay, who you mentioned in there, Ben Griffin. the guy that I really like this week is Mac Messner. he's a guy that I've been on a couple of different times this year. played unbelievable at TPC John Deere earlier this year, played really well at Colonial. Both of those are comp courses to Sedgefield.
Venmo Joe (37:58)
so he's gonna be in my card. Davis Thompson, who you mentioned, has also had multiple top 15 finishes here. so I would look for him. Danny McCarthy's there as well, but Danny McCarthy is yet to win a PGA tour event. And every time I seem to give him out on this podcast, he sucks. So be weary about Denny McCarthy. But he is coming off of a miss cut at Detroit, but at the 3M
Venmo Joe (38:24)
He was I want to say tied for third or tied for fourth. So the good golf is in there. I just I'd I'd be weary about the the win there. But those are a couple of guys that that I really like. And like I said, fairways gained is a stat. You're gonna want to look at the proximity, shots gained putting specifically on Bermuda, looking at three putt avoidance because the greens are are bigger here. they're above average from a PGA tour standpoint.
Venmo Joe (38:54)
And you're gonna need birdies here, right? So look at birdies are better gained. winning score is probably gonna be kind of like what we saw in Detroit last week, somewhere in that like minus seventeen to minus twenty range. So you're gonna need a guy that that can fill it up from both you know, an approach and and actually put the ball in the hole standpoint.
Scott Kitun (39:15)
I love the Mac pick. Ryu is another one that stands out as as a potential name here that I think that that is not
Venmo Joe (39:23)
For sure.
Scott Kitun (39:24)
being given enough credit. and everyone else you kinda talked about. I I'm just curious since we started with we might as well end with it.
Venmo Joe (39:29)
He's Aaron Rye.
Venmo Joe (39:31)
It's like you're re he's also had multiple top fifteen finishes over the last five years. So he's yeah, he he fits the bill.
Scott Kitun (39:38)
These are the the guys that like one Rye in particular early on won and now it's like can he come back and win a second one and all of sudden is he your PGA tour player of the year? Someone you would absolutely not have expected, but you cannot deny if you win two times and one's a major, it's in it's in the realm.
Venmo Joe (39:54)
I think he I think
Venmo Joe (39:55)
he would I think he would have to I think he'd have to win mol I think he I don't think Wyndham would do I think he would have to win in the playoffs and win the tour championship to be in consideration of that just with I do. I I do.
Scott Kitun (40:05)
I don't think he has to do that much. I I who man, I I think he has to perform
Scott Kitun (40:10)
well in the playoffs and be in the final, but I I don't know that he has to win for I don't know. Whatever. There's so many like multi win players, but not there's only so many majors.
Venmo Joe (40:15)
He just I mean he he just he just hasn't he just hasn't been
Venmo Joe (40:19)
I mean he hasn't been good since Eronomic. Like he he's not been relevant. Yeah, I mean to win to to win the
Scott Kitun (40:23)
doesn't need to be. So is Rory. He doesn't even fucking play in the tournament.
Venmo Joe (40:27)
well Rory's not gonna be player of the year. To me, player of the year is between Scotty, even though he's only got the one win, his body of work is absolutely insane. Cam Young,
Scott Kitun (40:35)
Yeah, it's incredible. A million second places.
Venmo Joe (40:38)
Maddie Fitz, and Gotter. That's it, right?
Scott Kitun (40:42)
I I think you might have a bias against guys who wear gloves. It's just
Venmo Joe (40:42)
Rory Rory's not Rory's not.
Venmo Joe (40:48)
Well, I also, you know, I I am unfair to him because I I still remember my Ludvig ticket, but I have to remind myself that that was Ludwig that lost at Eronomic and had nothing to do with Aaron Rye. It had everything to do with Ludvig just
Scott Kitun (41:01)
my god.
Venmo Joe (41:02)
sucking. But yeah, it it's pretty pretty wide open. Go ahead.
Scott Kitun (41:04)
I'm gonna end in this cause we we started.
Scott Kitun (41:08)
Jackson Coivan this tournament. What do you think? I don't know. There's there's obviously gonna be a bunch of money on him. Is like does it matter? Like what what is this the narrative though? The narrative. Forget about the gambling, the narrative. Does it matter?
Venmo Joe (41:14)
And listen, dude, I love I I I I love Koivan. I just it's just it's just it's it's just tough. I mean,
Venmo Joe (41:22)
I think I think the narrative is is I mean dude, he's the second second betting favorite in his fifth PGA tour start. That's the narrative right there. Like there is the hype that you were talking about that you saw at the card show. Like I think it's real. You're seeing it.
Venmo Joe (41:41)
you know, on the gambling markets, you're seeing it on the gambling books. Like it is it's real, right?
Scott Kitun (41:44)
That's making me worried, Joe.
Venmo Joe (41:46)
Like
Scott Kitun (41:46)
That's but like that's the part that like the card thing I get, and I watched him play and I was like, holy shit, this dude's nuts.
Venmo Joe (41:52)
Yeah, but
Venmo Joe (41:52)
what's mate but what's making you worried? He's already like one with the pressure.
Scott Kitun (41:56)
Yeah.
Venmo Joe (41:58)
Like I just could I see I I kind of
Scott Kitun (42:00)
Just I I I think if
Venmo Joe (42:03)
I kind of bucketize Koivan with with Young in this tournament where it's like I wouldn't be surprised if they won. I just again you're getting Koyvin at twenty to one when this is his fifth PGA tour start, and I can have all these guys that I just you and I just listed that have had multiple years of success, top fifteen finishes here at twenty, thirty, forty below what
Venmo Joe (42:28)
his number is like there's so much value on this board. I don't the value isn't with Coivin right now. It's just not, right? He could win. 20 to 1, great. Take your money. I just I don't think that I don't think that the number reflects the actual probability here. I think the number reflects yeah, the number the number reflects
Scott Kitun (42:46)
That's kinda my point. Is like I'm looking at this guy and I'm going
Venmo Joe (42:50)
the popularity that he's got and the fact that he's ever you know everyone's talking about him. Like he should be
Scott Kitun (42:56)
I enjoyed the hell
Scott Kitun (42:57)
out of of the wind, Joe, but I I just like to be f be sure before I anoint people that they are real.
Venmo Joe (43:03)
here, I don't well. This is one thing that I that I saw that like I am not
Scott Kitun (43:06)
Just check just double checking, that's all.
Venmo Joe (43:08)
I'm not comparing the two. It's just it's funny how fast things change because Koivan wins the 3M, right? Young guy, third start. Matthew Wolf did the same thing in 2019.
Scott Kitun (43:20)
y that's kinda more.
Venmo Joe (43:22)
Same age. You know, obviously Koivan does not have the wet the the funky swing that Wolf had, but like
Venmo Joe (43:30)
Kind of same thing. Like everyone thought that Matthew Wolf was the next big thing. I don't think he won another event after that. So like I again, not saying that Coiven is that. It's just it's it's more of an illustration of you need a bigger sample size. That's it. Like you need a much bigger sample size. Thousand percent.
Scott Kitun (43:46)
He I I fucking love what I saw out of him. I love what I saw
Scott Kitun (43:51)
out him, but I just want to be really clear. Scotty was there. Wasn't the thickest field. He's had a nice little soft spot at the end of the season. We're not talking about holy shit.
Venmo Joe (44:03)
Yeah, when people are resting, yeah.
Scott Kitun (44:05)
Yeah, we're not talking about holy shit, contended at a major, won a major, something crazy, spins it
Venmo Joe (44:07)
Huh. Correct. Yeah.
Scott Kitun (44:09)
out. I love his story. It's being a little spoon-fed.
Scott Kitun (44:14)
A little bit, just a little bit with the fishing thing, just a little bit. Fucking I like just you know, a little bit, a little bit of a narrative. I s I smell a little
Venmo Joe (44:18)
God. Yeah. Yeah.
Scott Kitun (44:24)
Jim Nance cooking. and I just want to make sure because I look at these bets and I'm thinking
Venmo Joe (44:28)
Well
Scott Kitun (44:29)
it's it's priced out, but it's like if he's the guy, it's cool. This is a tournament where if he does another top 40, it's like okay, that's fine. But like let's not go nuts.
Scott Kitun (44:43)
I need to see, like I'm being honest. If you're gonna have this kind of hype, I need you to top 15 this week. I don't need you to win it, but I need a top fifteen. Show me your real guy.
Venmo Joe (44:44)
I'm more I'm more interested I I I agree. I'm more interested in
Venmo Joe (44:52)
I'm more interested in his performance in the playoffs than Wyndham, to be honest, right? Like for sure, for sure.
Scott Kitun (44:55)
A thousand percent, but this is the warm up. This is the only time he's really been
Scott Kitun (44:59)
on the field competing. This is his sixth tournament.
Venmo Joe (45:03)
Agreed, agreed. definitely be watching him and watching all of our guys. I think we're gonna cash a winner this week, my friend. Mac Mesner, let's roll.
Scott Kitun (45:10)
Let's do it, buddy. Mac
Scott Kitun (45:12)
Messner. I'm I'm riding you on that one. I love it. Mac Messner. See you later.
Venmo Joe (45:16)
Second last year.
Venmo Joe (45:17)
Second last year. Solo second. There we go. Let's go. Yes, sir. All right. See you, buddy. Bye.
Scott Kitun (45:20)
Solo first this year. All right, buddy. We'll see you. Thanks
